Rimworld is incredible.

Try the Mars Edition mod. You're starting a colony on Mars instead of being crashlanded on a strangely overpopulated uninhabited planet.
Adds a pretty interesting oxygen and atmosphere mechanic. Also, water and gases.
It lacks outside threats, though.
