I've never been saltier than when I played ranked.

First game was fucking awful on release because of all the disc-locked content
2 just looks like an expansion pack (with worse netcode)

Probably my favorite game series right now, but having to trust your rank position on spotty teammates every time is the worst. Also 2 isn't making stage rotation sound anymore palatable.

I got my first chance to try out the gameplay during Splatoon 2's testfire back in March. I had a lot of fun, even if I only had the opportunity to do a few matches. Gyro aiming is fantastic, and the ability to use the ink you lay down to move faster and hide from enemies is really neat.

Competitively, it seems pretty balanced as long as you avoid Turf War. Tournaments have a wide variety of weapons used, though I haven't seen too many Rollers outside of the Dynamo. Invincibility specials are a bit cancerous, but those are gone in the sequel. I'm a bit worried about Chargers becoming overpowered with those gone, though.

Other than that I had some major connection issues in Ranked Battles against Japanese players, but Squad battles against NA players had good latency.

Chargers have sorta fallen out of the meta. At high level, people prefer to run more weapons that can paint to combat quick respawn/stealth jump spam. Although things might change if they revamp how QRSJ works.
