This game was incredible in its original form. I remember when they added Falador and Ice Mountain and that whole section of the game, and the island, and the Wilderness.

Then they added Members - I never paid but some of my friends did - the updated did seem very awesome but paying for MMO's is something I'll NEVER do. Something about paying money to build stats for a character I have to consistently pay to play as, seems like a neverending loop.

Regardless, I checked the updates / world map on the website for years and it looked pretty swell - Until they updated the graphics (which I think they've done again since)

What the fuck. The original graphics were great. It looked like a fucking mess when they updated, was hard to move around, hard to see... And sucked all the charm out.

Runescape died when the graphics changed.

I agree, the quests have always been the biggest draw of runescape.
Heroes quest and then Legends quest were those great benchmark quest like the dragon one where you felt all aspects of your character were being drawn on to move up a tier in total ability.

Looking back on my RS days I didn't do shit while the game was in its prime. All I would do is just fish and play pvp minigames.

HD ruined the aesthetic while a major problem didn't even compare to the update slog. We used to get about three updates a month with bigger ones having two. After HD we got half the content because the graphics took too long to make.

Nowadays 1 update a month is generous and it don't expect it to be large either. Fucking 5 man 07 team has been pumping out two updates a month a lot of them large too.
