I dunno why people are this mad about it. Destiny is not similar to other co-op FPS games played online that have dedicated servers. Like, Overwatch not hosting dedicated servers with custom content is a big blow, and part of the reason why they're bleeding players so quickly, and part of the reason why Gary's Mod and TF:2 is still so big after all this time.

Destiny doesn't offer that experience, though. It's a "story" driven experience. Why would it have dedicated servers?

Also, what's with fanboys shitting on everything? What the fuck is wrong with you faggots? Destiny was fun, Destiny 2 should be fun based on what we've seen, Persona 5 is fun, Overwatch is fun, CS was fun, Hollow Knight is fun, Breath of the Wild is fun... why the fuck do you guys always shit on games all the time just because of nitpicking faggot bullshit? And then when someone trashes the one new game in your collection, you flip the fuck out and start insulting everybody else's games.

Here's a fact - if gamers had the money, they'd buy a lot more games outside of their favored genres, but because games are so expensive and most people currently don't have 500 dollars to waste each month, there is only a limited selection in what we can play. I had to download NiER, but dammit, if I could give those devs money right now then I would buy a new copy just to make sure they get paid for making such a fun game. I had to sell my PS4, but Horizon: Zero Dawn looks amazing and I want to play that, too, but you don't see me shitting it up in Zero Dawn threads.

As the other guy said, no. The reason is because of latency. Just because you are all wired together does not mean you all have the same latency. This is also incredibly unrealistic - getting 12+ people together with a LAN or WLAN? Since when the fuck do gamers have that many friends?

The main problem with P2P is, as stated, latency. The host of the game will always clean house and everyone else will always suffer some minor glitches with the ping. Some individuals will suffer major problems. You can also install "lag switches" to cheat your way through a game by abusing latency lag.

Meanwhile, if you have a single dedicated server, you have a machine that will mediate between the players and synch them all up. It also means that the players only have to have a connection with 1 machine instead of 12 others. Plus, some dedicated servers can be set up to have lag-correction utilities, and lag switches don't work on them.

This is mainly only important for PvP. If you are doing PvE, this is not a super big deal. Since Destiny is not exactly known for its PvP - and by this I mean, PvP is not its big focus - that means they do not NEED dedicate servers. It would be nice, but it is not necessary.

I understand why you people fanboyed Valve five years ago when Steam still had 75%-90% off sales, but these days Steam sales are about as good as Blizzard sales. You're lucky to get 50% off for a game made in the last three years, and 66% off or more is almost unheard of.
