They are all migrating to VR

Arcades died out and people don't want to buy toy guns for 2 hour on rail shooters

Probably because most arcade operators are complete retards and fuck up the calibration or use a flatscreen with massive control delay.

I work in a dave and busters and let me tell you; those guns have really short lifespans. We still have 8 shooting games (16 guns)but the guns take damage so fast that we have to replace them regularly.

2. arcades in general are dying out except in Japan
3. those guns in OP's pic are heavy as fuck. fuck whoever in Raw Thrills that thought using light gun as heavy as a real gun is acceptable

Being incompetent at them actually costs you money, so casuals couldn't take it.

Stop posting whores.

Ungrateful entitled cunts.

Same reasons as arcades. Modern screen have much more input lag than CRTs, and maintenance is a hellish expense.
>>
>>377413093
Because arcades died out. I enjoyed the genre's brief resurgence on the Wii, though.

They didn't, they have literally just evolved to VR shooting gallerys and there are more than ever again, especially for Vive

Stop letting children smash them against the wall, then.

Arcade hardware is solid as a brick shithouse, you're just a lazy cunt who doesn't want to tell some kid "no" because mommy will get you fired.

>>
light gun games are still pretty popular on Japanese arcades but they're an extremely arcade-y style game, and the modern Western game market has no room for arcade-y games
>>
>>377413662
TC is a fairly mediocre buy, it's a fun game but the PS1 port is fine.

The best games you can get are any of the 97+ Sega titles that use an IR gun, even if they have a CRT like HotD2, you can rip it out and put any screen in without an issue because they use IR LEDs.

Of course, when the IR boards blow, you're still fucked.

Unless they can't afford to replace or repair the guns and those kids are going to drive Dave and Busters bankrupt, I don't see the problem

VR shooting galleries are the most depressing shit ever.

I'd legitimately rate them below the fucking American laser titles. Zero skill required, most of them have auto-aim, laser sights, or other assorted cancer that could only entertain a child.

in 2005, arcade here in Uganda actually get Virtua Cop 2 and I was top scorer of my city

Farpoint is actually pretty good, but i guess the entry price point is so high (VR) that most people would get turned off .
>>
>a new light gun game gets cracked and uploaded
>it's a fucking machine gun game
T-Thanks.

Honestly, when was the last decent release? The past few have all been trash, like Gundam, Aliens Extermination, etc. Hell, I'd even be happy with a fucking Target Terror release at this point, because even a dogshit pistol game is better than the best machine gun game.
>>
>>377413093
It still saddens me that the Wii and Wii U didn't get more light gun games.

>>377413093
like other arcade genres like shumps and rhythm games they died with arcades.
Modern tvs being shit doesn't help
>>
>>377416490
I haven't spent much time with the dogshit knock-off Happ replacements you're probably buying, but something like a Namco or Sega gun is a solid hunk of plastic. They'll get some minor cosmetic damage on the tip from retarded kids slamming them into the holsters over time, but they're very hard to actually break.

I'm not too familiar with the newer IR stuff though, they might be making those out of the cheapest crap possible because there's no profit margin in arcades now.
>>
>>377413663
Yeah, that's Angela White, and judging by the giant jew nose, that is Abella Danger right next to her.
>>
>>377413093
The lightguns of the 90s were little cameras in the barrel specifically designed to capture the light from the cathode ray tube televisions. They were fast, "accurate" and built like a fucking tank.

Modern "lightguns" are mostly LED sensors (like the Power Glove or the Wii Remote). The old lightguns don't work with modern non-cathode flat screens. These new ones are flimsy, sensitive, have a long delay in detection, aim your weapon based on relative positioning and lose their zero on where you're aiming extremely fast. They feel like shit and break easily, basically killed the arcade rail shooter scene.

Avoid railshooters that use the handheld LED guns like Ghost Squad, focus on playing the old ones that still use proper lightguns, and ones that are actually giant joysticks attached to the cabinet, like Silent Scope and GunBlade.

>>
>>377417023
I thought you meant light gun games in general, but you guys actually have 8 fucking Raw Thrills cabs? I wouldn't play that shit if you paid me, I'm sure you're right and the guns are made out of the arcade equivalent of wet toilet paper.
>>
>>377413093
That gun doesn't look light at all.
>>
>>377417205
I really wish this got a re-release towards the end of the PS2 era with its sequel, along with support for a real lightgun and the eyetoy.

Nobody has even got it working properly in PCSX2, it's sad. You could remove the camera stuff and just use some kind of headtracking, but nobody ever emulated the justifier because it's a PS1 gun that's only required for Police 911. Even the guncon support in PCSX2 is dreadful.
>>
>>377417595
There's a plugin for guncons and shit for pcsx2 but I don't know how well it works.
>>
>>377416992
there were only 4 or 5 of these VC2 arcades in my hometown and I held top score at all of them.

most of them now broke down cause lack of proper maintenance, one arcade burnt down ...
>>
>>377416576
>lightgun
>modeled after Gunslinger Stratos
>it's a single player game
>it's not even a lightgun game

Actually this raises a question, what happened to weird and wacky game peripherals? They seemed to have completely disappeared. Bizzare controllers like flight sticks, mech controllers and other odd controlling methods seem to have fallen by the wayside

Hell even steering wheels setups with gearsticks and accellerator, break etc. seem to be disappearing
>>
>>377417712
It only covers guncons, requires some really awkward individual profiles for games and hacks to get through calibration, and then it isn't even calibrated properly in some titles like Vampire Night despite me using the right resolution. Works alright for TC2 and 3, although they're still a bit buggy because the emulator itself is a hunk of shit.

A million miles better than Dolphin, at least, which expects a constantly tracked cursor and thus can't properly respond to basic raw input commands. At least the Wii didn't get any light gun games worth playing.
>>
>>377417932
They're still being made, but they were always a niche market. As gaming has become more standardised, support for weird shit has become non-existent.

The last big peripheral push was Guitar Hero, and they filled houses with plastic instruments so fast that they crashed the entire market so badly that the idea of games with bundled peripherals has been dead for a decade.
>>
>>377417205
I remember playing this in an arcade in some Las Vegas hotel a long time ago and I think I got pretty far in it. Pretty fun game.

Visiting various arcades in Tokyo, I get a little bit happier every time I see something like a Densha De Go! cabinet among the shitty MOBA, rhythm, Initial D and mecha games that completely dominate the arcade halls.
>>
>>377418434
Seems a little weird, Densha De Go was absolutely massive in Japan. It's like getting happy about a Taiko machine.
>>
>>377418434
There are moba arcade games?

>>
>>377419139
It's called Wonderland Wars. Haven't tried it myself because I find the concept retarded, but it seems you play it with a stylus on a touch screen.
>>377418673
I guess that's true, I wasn't here to experience that back then though.
What I really want to find is a sit-down Out Run cabinet, but it's pretty hard to find old arcade games with a non-standard layout in Tokyo's central areas, and I don't really know the areas around here well enough yet.
