I still talk about and think about this game all the time. It is without question one of my favourite games, but I actually have a difficult time figuring out why.

It's just one of those games that have the ability to make their glaring flaws sort of accidentally charming. The affinity system was fucking terrible and most people don't use it at all, which results in that fat motherfuck ending up being your love in the end, but that's fucking hilarious and charming at the same time because you go "oh, they tried to include that type of thing".

I don't really know what exactly it is, but I fucking loved playing this game. It was just so godamned charming, that's the only way I can put it. The pacing was terrible, the dialogue was terrible and the loot system was terrible, but the individual quests were great, the language was charming and the endgame was unreal.

I've got a theory that the Everfall is supposed to take you to the moon where you fight the Senceschal, since it is overlooking the world. Plus I honestly think that the Endless tower might just be BitterBlack Isle But still though.

Though I can't see Gran Soren here though. The whole map probably would have meant that the game would have been three times bigger.

I prefer if they condense the world, but focus on small details like implementing some chemistry in the overworld. Give some spells certain utility to exploration as well as involving the environment into the overall combat.

DD was one of the only RPGs that did spellcasting right. Big heavy spells, combos, having to charge them up and aim properly in the heat of battle. Way better than just choosing a menu command.

That's the thing. DD was an action game, and supported the whole running+jumping+climbing thing, and then spellcasting was just standing in one spot whipping things with lightning, throwing fireballs, or 'press X to watch a big ice tentacle cutscene.'

It was boring, and the whole 'charge them up and aim properly in the heat of battle' is just where you step back, send your pawns in, and then cast. It was pretty, sure, but it's just as pretty when my pawn was a spellcaster.

I mean, I don't know how I'd fix it, or even if it can be fixed, or even if it's actually broken at all. It could just be one of those personal opinion things.

That's not a casual filter, that's a group of high level bandits right next to a group of low level bandits. Depends on the ending I believe;

If you die at any point, you just go back into the wheel of reincarnation and a new arisen is chosen later.

If you accept the Dragon's deal, he fucks off for a few decades before coming back and choosing another arisen. You go back to the reincarnation wheel when you die here as well, either when a new Arisen kills the dragon or you just get killed regularly.

If you kill the Dragon but are a colossal fuckup and die to God, he turns you into the new dragon and you go find another arisen.

If you kill God, you become the new God and assume his duties in choosing new arisen, making new dragons, etc.

The only ending that actually 'breaks the chain' I believe is if you successfully kill God, take his place, and then an hero with the magicdagger.

The bandits before the plains-area are fairly low, but as soon as you go through that boulder canyon and towards the bandit's keep, they jump to outrageously high levels, relatively speaking. You flat out aren't supposed to be in that area till mid-game, but what makes it extra-special egregious is you NEED to skirt the edge of that zone to get to the Witchwood, which you NEED to visit early-game for questreasons. And just to be cunts, they threw no less than 4 individual bandit groups between you and Witchwood, all high level, all basically unavoidable.

My man, it's really 2 minutes in the rift to do this. If this is the sword you and Bob over there want to fall on, by all means. All the drakes/wyverns/dragons in the game are reincarnated Arisen; its possible that even dying not to God, just dying period, gets you reincarnated into Dragon-form since there are so many drakes and shit running around that it wouldn't make sense that they only show up if you die to the Seneschel. In fact probably dying to the Senechel is just seen as a special fuckup and he turns you into the new BIG Dragon to replace the one you inevitably had to kill in order to reach him.

So it is entirely possible that anytime an Arisen dies, they get reincarnated into a drake or wyvern or dragon and judging by the text when you fight these guys, they are super fucking butthurt about it since they are in constant pain, always hungry, and know that they will never break from the unending chain due to their screwup in their past life.

That is also true, so why the fuck would you play on anything but hardest? Hard-mode makes it so the first 40-60 levels are ass-punishingly difficult, it balances out mid/late game, and then comes right back to fuck your sphincter again when you hit BBI for the first time. Once you gear up and overlevel, the game still becomes insanely easy no matter what, but at least on Hardmode you get more harshly punished for getting hit and enemies do meaningful damage for most of the game.

You should stay assassin, anon, they are the most stronk class in the game.

Daimon isn't really all that hard, even at 2.0. First form, just make sure you have at least a tier 1 or 2 main weapon, and bring at least 20 or so Conqueror Peri's with you. Pop 4 at a time, they stack, then go crazy with whatever high-damage rapid-fire ability you have. Kisses if dagger, tenfold or whatever arrows if bow. Spam like crazy, pause to eat rotting fish when low stamina, pop another 4 prips every time they wear off, repeat till dead.

Dunno, strider has the running attack which you can combine with a quick jump or a coolass slide, and also the spiderman-like web which you can use to throw smaller enemies, and you can also kick your enemies and use them to leap higher. Then there's the Master Thief attack, which gets you free items.
Assassin is more combat oriented, but strider is just fun.

Assassin saved the game for me. I played mage until post game and got to the point where charging another meteor would have sent me off the deep end

Then I flipped the assassin switch and suddenly combat was a million times more involved and fun, and even quicker to boot

Upgrades are the biggest issue in BBI. Especially in BBI 2.0, make sure you're exploring those rooms and getting the semi-hidden/secret chests around. Hopefully, you get lucky and wind up with a decent tier 2 or 3 weapon and good armor before Daimon 2.0, but if you're unlucky, you might need to grind the Beholder or Death a few times to get a sufficient weapon.

Once you're 160-180 and have a proper tier 3 weapon, you can reliably down Daimon 2.0 and farm him for loot. Also, look up some of the loot-tactics for boss-drops/Daimon chests. You can cheese the RNG system a bit to make it drop specifically weapons, armor, or whatever you need.

Of course you'll inevitably run into the same problem everyone does, farming Daimon to get better gear so you can farm Daimon faster so you can get better gear.

If your magic skill power is less than the total resist of Daimon then you do almost no damage to him unbuffed. I tried at level 35 and it was pretty terrible. I came back at 48 (better spell power staff) and it was pretty easy.

Doesn't work that way. Savan pulls the sword from his chest before you can kill him. Then he truly dies. If you kill yourself with godsbane you're saying goodbye to your mortal coil, giving it to the pawn, who earns a free soul because it has none.

Then you become the seneschal until someone comes to free you. The cycle can't be broken and you can't kill yourself.
