GoW has never felt 'visceral' to me. Actually the combat has felt weaker and lighter, having less weight than pretty much any CUHRAYZEE game. NG2, 3:RE, and MGR were all much more visceral to me. Even Bayonetta 1 and 2, since there was some gore in those games and combat felt really good there.
