Same, I still don't know what your mom's voice sounds like

FUCK YES! So many good memories. Very immersive. Great music. Very creative! Hardcore even. Surviving in the dungeons were fun. Being able to create your town with people and all the environments/ landmarks and then being able to walk around first person in it was brilliant. Had a great charm to it. Made my childhood astounding. And I've never even beaten the bloody thing! So much love for it <3

I used to play the shit out of this game when I was a little elementary shit. No idea how I ended up beating it but damn if it didn't cement itself as one of my favorites. If I had a Ps4 I would've rebought faster than I can blink
>>

Oh shit this game was my jam in middle school
I played it again not too long ago, sountrack still spot on, gameplay aged as well as you could hope for
>>
>>377393915
Used to watch my dad play this game all the time after school. He got up to the last dungeon, but unfortunately never finished, I'm not sure why. I went back and emulated it recently and had a blast. I need to get around to playing the second game.
>>
>>377395514

Definitely the best place to build. Anybody do the 100 level tower to fight your tiger-riding dad? That place is a pain in the ass.

Imagine being a dad and introducing your child(ren) to good games.
>>
>>377395927
I'm still mad about the fact that you can unlock the best weapon in the game AFTER LAST FUCKING BOSS
You will literally never get to use it unless you play old dungeons for just the sake of playing them again
>>
>>377393915
It's really flawed but I still love it, probably my first PS2 game that really stuck out in my mind.

Yes I need to replay it one day.

I got to like floor 79 in Demon Shaft before I just was not able to progress even with broken dagger glitch. Awesome game though.

Is 2 any good? I've been meaning to play it.

The water and weapon management was fucking tedious and sapped a lot of fun out of the game.

The original has less features but is overall more hardcore, whatever weapon breaks is gone forever.
>>
>>377396865
It removes the thirst metre, the first few dungeons are shorter, the story is more involved, weapons don't disappear when they break, combat feel s a bit more fluid.

I could go on. It's a big improvement in a number of ways.

It doesn't quite capture the atmosphere of the first in the same with its cartoony style but it's still excellent.
>>
Yes, it's one of my favorites. I liked it more than 2 as well. 2's towns and music don't feel as comfy, plus I prefer the original cast and georama.

I like the first game more. Soundtrack is great and there are more people to manage, who themselves go about their businesses.
In the second game, everyone just stays on the train. Can't blame them. It's comfy.

the sequel doesn't have limited inventory space, unless you count individual items having a limit of how many you can carry, and with most it's a large amount.

>no Dran's feather
>>
>>377393915
I remember playing this and the second game years ago and I got stuck on the stages where you're forced to use other characters beside the MC, because I never leveled their weapons at all.

At least in the second game you can bypass those stages by using an item.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zi_3dC8PU8Y

They really capture the spirit of adventure, hot damn
>>
>>377397620

I'm just despairing since it hasn't happened yet, if it gets announced at this years E3 I'd be celebrating it.
>>
>>377397713

And in the second game there is only 2 characters, it's much easier to keep up with only 2 characters compared to 6.
>>
>>377397502
Steve and Super Steve were the best slingshots.
>>
>>377397620
They announced Dark Cloud 3 shortly after release of 2.
Somewhere along the line it turned into Rogue Galaxy (and it shows at points).
They've expressed little to no interest in a true new entry in the series since.
I don't see it ever happening, personally.
>>
>>377397824
I never used Monica past the forest dungeon.

Also leveling the monster badge is fucking cancer because of how weak and slow they are to level up.
Fighting as monster should be cool but they butchered it by making them too weak.

At least upgrading Steve is cool as fuck and he's also pretty strong.
>>
>>377397854
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxeRtXhI-tY

I remember Rogue Galaxy. Good production values, but the battles and dungeons really held it back. I remember even falling asleep a couple times.

Bug chess is there best mini-game
>>
>>377397854
I see. Too bad Rogue Galaxy was extremely punishing and RNG at times for me.
Some maps were massive and I just wanted to explore. But then a mimic comes out and wipes the squad.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TW4zei9KpAQ

They all have wonderful music.
>>
>>377398053

Yeah that monster badge thing was so weak, I don't think there is a single person that actually used it through the main game to any decent effect.
>>
>>377393915
Great game, especially the sequel.
>>
>>377393915
Only played the sequel which was an awesome game. I had a friend who played the first and when I asked him about it he just mentioned you had to drink water all the time which was annoying.
>>
>>377397638

Just ride around on the robot.
>>
>>377398053
If they ever did a proper remaster the monster badges would have to be the first thing to be fixed. They don't need to be overpowered but they need to be actually usable.
And they need to level up at least 2 or 3 times as fast.
>>
>>377397228

What is this, a cat girl for ants?
>>
>>377398053
>I never used Monica past the forest dungeon.

How did you not get fucked up during boss fights? That is what got me.
>>
>>377397328
You can have as many items as you can scroll down your bag. Its 128 items with some of them stacking. You can increase it by 6 since Max and Monica can carry 3 each. The georama stuff and gems really inflate inventory in Dark Cloud 2.
Can be quite a bother if you are keeping old weapons for upgrading purposes later on. And the weapons you don't want to sell can pile up.

I bought those monster traps from the girl next door and put my gems in them to save space.

Did I do good with this town? I hope if there is ever a dark cloud 3 they expand the town building some more.

Amazing game, i remember me and my brother and sister played the fuck out a fucking demo which came with the ps2. It was like an hour long demo, and we played so much that at some point we were able to clear the entire firts dungeon in that time. Our parents never bought us the entire game, and as soon as i came to know there was a sequel out, years later, i immediatly bought it. The amount of time i've spent on thath game, taking photos, creating stuff, managing the diorama, upgrading the weapons.
>that comfy graphic
>that comfy and chilly OST

Fuck anons, i just want another Dark Chronicle, which can last 1k hours.
Why level 5, why.
>>
>>377400127
Looks like an actual port town and can survive hurricanes, unlike mine. Nice touch with the aqueduct.
>>
>>377396963
>but is overall more hardcore
Dark Cloud 2 was way harder, even though Dark Cloud had more tedious mechanics.
>>
>>377401659

Dark cloud 1 is a lot less forgiving with things like permanent weapon loss, sealed stages are also annoying when you haven't been on top of upgrading one of your 6 characters.
>>
I don't mind the lack of DC3 too much. At least L5 kept making impressive looking JRPGs like Rogue Galaxy and Ni no Kuni and that some gameplay systems from DC carried on.
>>
>>377401532

Thanks, as well as the aesthetic aspect that aqueduct also had a practical use. I wonder how many people went all out in town design like me.
>>
>>377402004
the solution to all the sealed stages is just to have one strong weapon broken down and then equip it on to anyone you need to use. Just as long as you don't synthesize it.
>>
>>377393915
