After running a bunch of summoning simulators and personal experience, you have a good chance of getting the focus unit you want within 100 orbs, as long as they don't share a color.

Might not surprise anybody, but it's just a suggestion to keep that amount or more in hand if you're waiting for a particular unit to be focus.

If those are the ones you're attacking with Eliwood, I think it'd be better to just not worry and kill them in one hit. They are paper, and the only mage that's frequent that probably won't die in one hit is Reinhardt... who is so slow you'll double him without darting blow.

I know what the fucking threshold for doubling is, anon. Most of those units have some form of crippling defensive weakness that means you can OHKO them with the proper color matchup and/or damage type. Linde and Nino have Def values of paper. Lucina has really low Res.
On the flipside, Olivia is a Dancer and has iffy Atk if she's not kitted out to fuck a specific color like she should be, and Eirika kinda suffers from iffy Atk as well, but it's fine because she's a supportive unit primarily.
Now, Lyn actually has pretty decent defensive values, same with a properly kitted Ryoma. You'll only ever see the latter in Arena though thanks to lolDistant Counter. Hell, even Lucina is rare as fuck in Arena nowadays since she lacks DC.
You don't need 45 Speed to deal with any of those units, period.

If not, his Spur Def is actually pretty good now, because the Spur Def 1 Sacred Seal will stack with it. If you equip both, he'll passively give +6 defense to anyone next to him in combat, which stacks with any other buffs they have.

Any attack boosting skill would probably be better for his A too. Or even just regular defense or res+3 or something if you don't have any of those.
