Vast majority of his set-ups come from meter. Apparently, is BACK + 2 stuns the enemy for like, a single second, allowing you enough time to move in quickly and do something like a throw, or a combo, but other than that and his uppercut, and his cross-up 2, I haven't found much in terms of raw set-up. His DOWN + DOWN + 2 is almost useless since the range of it and how slow it is makes it super easy to counter. I've found his most useful moves are his leap, his charge, and his meter-burn throw (have to unlock it).

But yea, Grodd needs a SERIOUS work around to give him his true potential. He needs SOMETHING. He's so easy to knock out of the air, knock out of charge, and dominate in melee, it's like, what the fuck? He's meant to be a heavy grappling rush down character but is SEVERELY lacking in frames and reach.

Mean-while, it seems that the devs sucked Atrocitus' dick to no end.

A lot of his combos can be meterburned to extend like 1 1 2 grab, back1 grab, or 2 2 grab. Use that to pop them in the air and at first you can just jump3 2 2 3 for good damage but to extend them even further learning to restand them with back2 and leap. You'll need to use the close leap so its really weird motion altogether, like a full halfcircle if it was a stick.

Yes, but as far as set-ups go, that's not particularly enthralling, because if you move in close-range to someone, they're still going to dominate you 80-85% of the time because of how slow Grodd's attacks are.

Yeah it's had a couple, mostly the NRS competitive people who most got their hands on the game a week or so before release.

From what I've been playing of him, it's zoners who give him trouble, or people with telports. Deadshot isnt a big deal because he can't get away but scarecrow, fate, and darkseid mess me up almost constantly. Robin also beatouts out most of Grodd's normals, trying to anti-air him is pretty annoying

Injustice 2 has plenty of characters to pick from with a healthy variety of moves and combos, and interesting mechanics. The AI also isn't one of those "READ EVERYTHING YOU DO AND COUNTER IT EXACTLY" types, it actually has a playstyle based on the characters, and adapts to how you play against it.

My girl-friend and I are having a fun time with it.

There are most certainly rush-downs, but I think there's more of an even spread in Injustice 2. That's not really even a negative on MKX, since it also had a lot of different character types, but it was more focused on closing distance.
