Linearity, 'edgy' bland art style, the Ganondorf reveal being a huge fuck you and completely ruining any chance Zant had of being an interesting villain, forgettable characters, forgettable dungeons, no magic, and more.

Just like the Mario franchise we haven't gotten an original main antagonist in over a decade, people thought this was it then it wasn't.
Also 90% of the boss fights look great but suck mechanically while I can't remember anything from any of the dungeons except the arbiters grounds.

It has no identity of its own.

It's Ocarina of Time with a "le dark and edgy" coat of paint. The characters are as bland as OoT's but it's written in a way that we're expected to be more invested in them. In OoT it's: Here's a bland, one-dimensional character. Do one sidequest for them and you never have to talk to them again. In TP it's: Here's a bland, one-dimensional character. They are plot relevant, and given hours of screen time. Now watch them whine to the camera for five minutes.

OoT's bosses were simple, but elegant. They were defeated by using everything you learned about the dungeon item, in that dungeon. In TP, use the dungeon item to crawl on the boss and mash buttons like you're in a poor man's Shadow of the Colossus.

OoT's Hyrule Field was annoyingly empty. TP saw that design and said to itself "you know what that long, boring travel between two interesting parts need? More needlessly long travel through nothing just to pad out the game!".

Navi was fairly annoying but relatively unobtrusive. Midna stops you every five minutes to remind you that you move with the control stick, swing your sword with B, and when the big, flashing A button contextual prompt appears, you have to press the A button to do the contextual prompt.

Twilight Princess asked to copy Ocarina of Time's homework, changed a few things to make it look different, but every change it made was wrong.

Shit posting aside, the opening tutorial is too bloated and takes too long get going.

The wolf sections are boring as fuck, running around to collect tears. Skyward Sword showed how to do a similar idea and have it much more engaging (the silent realms).

The twilight world itself is genuinely nauseating to be in.

The story is utter shite. The in-game characters are not even aware of the twilight menace. If *THEY* don't care, why the fuck should the player care?

That being said, it is one of the most traditional Zelda games and probably has the best gamut of dungeons in any of the 3D entries.

It was a good game, the dungeons and bosses were by far some of the best.
Yes we all know the Wolf parts were horrid, but that kind of added to the magic.
I personally really enjoyed it, especially its darker themes.

It was too easy, and its a shame. The game deliberately takes its time at the beginning to build up the sense of scale where it genuinely feels like you're going on this larger-than-life adventure once you've made it to Hyrule field.

When things finally pick up, all is well until you start fighting the bosses. The boss, the music, everything screams 'epic battle' except the difficulty. Bosses don't put up a real fight most of the time and it soils the vibe they were going for. It should be a struggle, or at least a challenge.

Also the spinner being useless outside of the dungeon you get it in is inexcusable. You don't give people such a cool item and just forget it exists an hour later.

TP is the only Zelda I was really disappointed with in the boss department sans Ganon and the yhetee. They LOOKED great but barely attacked and in one case, didnt at all.

I haven't played BotW yet (waiting for everything DLC to come out, and for CEMU to get better) but from all reports it seems to be on par with the other top tier titles. Most Zelda games are decent, but redundant. It's the unique and exceptional games that are worth playing.
