Z moves replace Mega Evolutions because Mega Evolutions look dumb and are hard to come up with. With Z Moves now every pokemon is viable with that extra super move that megas gave without the dumb designs.

You can't get half of them because Game Freak wanted to use staggered distros tied to online competitions as a replacement for a competent postgame, and no new ones were added because they "wanted to give the spotlight to Z-Moves". They said themselves new Megas will happen in the future going forward.

I liked them, they could change the tide of the battle without it becoming the centre of attention like Megas.
Megas were also fucking broken during the main story because only like 5 characters (including you) could actually use them so you had this massive advantage over literally everyone in an already easy game.
At least there were a couple of trainers in addition to important characters that used Z moves.

Megas, while cool in concept, are completely fucking busted, with some of them doing nothing
to help make some Pokemon more viable, and others which are completely fucking busted. Mega-Mence is the worst offender of this, as not only is it given to a mon that does not fucking need a mega, it looks incredibly stupid and you'll be forced to look at its stupid croissant wings since everybody fucking uses it.

No. Z Moves were a simple toy selling gimmick. The fact is that they were likely thought up midway into Gen 5, which is why Gems were removed, because Z Moves are just overly cinematic Gems.

I'd get rid of every Z Move if I could have Flying Gem + Acrobatics + Unburden again

I agree with this. Salamence, and to a lesser extent Metagross, did not need Megas, and by them receiving Megas, others like Pinsir, Altaria, Medicham, Lopunny, and so forth just got outclassed way too much for people to even consider using them.

Yeah, you kind of get bored of seeing the same move for the fifth time each day, so by the end of it, I assume people just turn off animations afterwards so they're able to at least have some sort of imagination while making their battles faster.

Not saying Mega Evolutions are something that revolutionary, but at least that would make us get excited over what kind of mon could possibly obtain a Mega.

Can someone tell me why does EVERY fucking anime now have extremely smooth camera panning despite the main animation running at a still choppy rate? It doesn't even look good, it defeats the whole reason why anime was animated the way it was initially with plenty of static action sequences, speed lines, and those repeating panning motions. This is just sloppy by comparison.

This fucking infuriates me with Pokemon. Why do they always do that? Every gen has a dozen new features and then the next gen drops every single one of them for a dozen entirely different new features - except for the annoying one or two that they thought was a good idea to tie an evolution to. I'm so glad we're forced to use Pokemon Amie for now and forever but secret bases, the pokemon tracker, and re-fighting trainers will never happen again.

I like the idea of having a fifth move at least, but it was absolutely hyped up to be a big load of nothing.
