Both VAs tried go for tired and borderline desperate. JPs voice has that just from a higher pitch but the EN certainly didn't. Instead all his voice lines contain a slight tremble which presents a good front to his audience while also hinting at the doubt that eats away at him until the end of his Confidant. The EN VA remembers to stop using his public voice when talking directly to Joker. It's not as commanding, it's a bit more personal, and you can tell he's not trembling. The JP voice doesnt have that advantage because it's harder to turn off the natural pitch of someone's voice.
