I've been playing this the past few weeks. All the martial arts parts have been awesome. There's seriously not enough kung fu games out there.

Apparently Activision was publishing it as True Crime: Hong Kong but cancelled it. When Square Enix absorbed the developer studio, United Front Games, they decided to release the game since it was almost complete. They did not, however, bother to finish some of the missing content or iron out the remaining bugs. to Square Enix's credit, United Front Games had laid off a ton of staff that had been working on the game, so anyone that wanted to work on it would've needed to waste a lot of time becoming familiar with the preexisting code.

I've tried playing this game twice and on both occasions I quit and uninstalled as soon as they let me get into a car.
The driving physics were THAT shit.

I like how much flashier Yakuza is, but I prefer Sleeping Dogs since the movement is less floaty. I think the Batman: Arkham games do combat really well, but the moves, characters, and settings in those don't give me that same feeling of being a kung fu master.

They are pretty bad, but the driving segments are all super easy so you can just steamroll them really quick. The only missions I've gotten stuck on were pure combat ones.

Don't know if he was one of the employees laid off but apparently Saki Kaskas did some work for Sleeping Dogs. In fact I think there's a few veteran EA Canada employees that worked on the game under UFG.
