The only times I use a thundercloud proc during astral fire is when thunder is about to fall off. You should always use it in umbral ice to get the extra tick you need to refill your MP, regardless of thunder's duration, if you have a proc. The dps gain is based on your connection or whatever. When I played blm, I was able to see when my procs went off before (or just when) the GCD refreshed. I don't remember tho whether it was just the ability with yellow dotted lines around it, or the flying buff indicator by my character, or both, that I could see in order to tell to hit Fire3 right when GCD was back up. If you don't have any of this, you're basically supposed to spam Fire1, don't wait each time if a proc got off, just use it after the next Fire1. Yes youw ill see many double procs fuck Blm lmao.

You're basically "replacing" a Fire with a Fire III which is a 60 potency gain before AF. Their recast times are the same so you're not losing any casting time, plus you keep the MP and can cast another Fire in your rotation before swapping to UI.
