This meme needs to stop. It really doesn't matter if you read them or not - the game tells you enough that you can pretty much assume what the characters did outside of the game.

By itself the story is enjoyable, reading the books is just enriching the lore.

This, but also go for TW3 for graphics. Skyrim Remastered is the same models and textures as vanilla Skyrim, just with improved shadows and effects. If you don't want to spend dozens of hours modding it thoroughly then you'll be better off with TW3's eye-candy. Skyrim's more fun to actually play, of course, but RPGs are more about story so I still prefer TW3.

its bad because you just mash the attack button with the occasional block button and then chug healing potions. /v/ claims this is what the witcher combat is like, however it actually requires preparation, strategy and timing and different approaches for different enemies, and sometimes you may need to utilize poisons and potions and bombs and bolts.
I love both games, I've put about 200 hours in to both, Witcher combat has greater depth, skill, and is much more satisfying.

I'm going to plant my flag in the Witcher camp.
The Witcher does everything dragon age wanted to do. Story much better (ignore the memeing fags who say you need to read the books, you don't just watch a catchup video.)
Graphics incredible even as a console player.
Also game of the year includes the dlc which is also great.
Skyrim is ok, the glitches and bugs are funnier

Best gpu at W3 release was 980, that can just about hit 60fps 1080p ultra without hairworks

Imagine if it released and it ran 30fps high on everyone's 970, people would just trash it for being unoptimized

As I said 980 was the most powerful card at the time. 900 series was also not much of a jump from 700 series and amd was still with the 290x, maybe Cdpr expected 14nm by then
