I hope with the reworks they either remove speed and crit entirely, or change the numbers back to a 2.0 baseline instead of inflating it. It's pointless to be up in the hundreds and probably thousands when they just keep rebalancing that shit for each new batch of levels to remove any benefit from the stats going into a new expansion. Get rid of the number as it stands if it does stay, begin with something like "10% crit : GCD - 0.0s" and then tack on extra %s and fractions of second for the gear.

It's not even behind the scenes. Some of the Ascians like Nabriales are just plain edgy faggots, but Elidibus keeps them around as useful idiots. Elidibus, Lahabrea, and Igeyorhm at least are/were all fighting to restore the universe to its original state. They consider that the level of death and destruction is necessary for the sake of fixing everything, and isn't actually that harmful in the long run because dead people just go to the Lifestream to be reborn into another form later anyway.

You can also gather and fish there. There one FATE that is similar to Hamlet Defense's idea (but not gameplay) in Black Shroud. You basically have to take a fort from some poacher clan in two separated FATEs (one invasion and one boss fight). If both FATEs are successfully completed, the fort is taken by Gridanian's defense force (they also open a shop with an exclusive minion). Every FATE after that involves the poachers trying to take the fort back. If they succeed, the fort reverts back to "enemy area" status, bringing back the old FATEs (and closing the shop).

Hamlets really can't be compared to FATEs imo though because it was content designed for a party. FATEs require little to no cooperation or planning so it's just not remotely the same kind of challenge or experience that Hamlets were. Because it's the easiest implementation. Blue Magic has defensive, offensive and healing, which are all things tanks can use. And unlike RDM, they aren't bogged down by preconceptions. A RDM couldn't be a tank because they're seen as cloth wearing fencers. BLU can use any weapon and wear any gear, because they've always been mutable in the FF series.
