Since the TV series announcement I have been thinking about reading the novels. Are they any good? I've heard the games are a bit different than the books. Is it worth it or should I pass?
No.

I got them all, and I think they're great.
The game series is a direct sequel to the books.

They are actually great. The actual series is amazing. The short story ones will confuse you and should be read after at least beginning the series.

also as this anon says the games are a direct sequel regardless of what Sapkowski says
The short stories are good, the rest ranges from passable to terrible. The last two books in particular are literal trash.

How long until Moorcock sues Sapkowski for stealing from his Elric books?
just read the short stories
Peaks at Baptism By Fire, but the rest are good enough.

I agree that the last one is pretty meh, but I didn't feel that way about the penultimate one.

HOOOOly shit. Is this the amerifat cover ? It´s worse than i have thought.

I'm more amazed by the fact that amerifats apparently read books.

If you enjoyed the games you're probably going to like the books, it'll broaden your impressions of a lot of the characters, even if the last book or two get a little too heavily into the world's politics and shit causing them to drag a little.
