It was neither the Traveler or the Potion Seller, instead it was the jackass who gave the Traveler directions to the wrong Potion shop.
Don't forget that the Traveler was going on a quest, he didn't necessarily have the time to double-check.

I think it makes sense to trust the judgement of the potion seller as he has years of experience with potions. The traveller is arrogant and thinks he can handle more than he actually can.

If your potions are "So strong they kill anything that drinks them, except for only the strongest of warriors" then they're obviously poisons. The Traveler probably wanted the potions for that very reason, and the seller was just being a dick.

I love this thread.

Whatever backwards-ass kingdom or empire made it so any alchemical concoction, no matter its intended effects, had to be sold as potions, and also only for personal use. Like some kind of misguided legislation trying to keep deadly substances out of the hands of cutthroats and other ne'er-do-wells.
