I respect KI, but being an X1 exclusive shot it in the foot, and I don't think the W10 release gave it any longer legs. It doesn't help that the 3rd round of dlc characters are either guest characters or uninteresting return ones.

My opinion is that it's just a good game. Nothing exceptional but it's solid. If you like mortal combat style fighting games you'll love this since it greatly improves that fighting system with stuff like meter burn dodges. Animation is hit and miss, mostly hit. It depends on the characters. Like Harley Quinn, Joker, and Robin are absolutely beautifully animated and are deserving of the whole next level animation people are gushing over. But then you have characters like Wonder Women, Blue Beetle, and Catwoman who look like trash with fish eyes, somewhat solid hair, and potato faces. It's really off putting having everything going for the realistic look and then seeing these characters faces who are just kinda odd. Gear system is pretty good. Nice sense of progression, the unique bonuses of epics and move changes are fun, they look cool, and being able to have always have the option of disabling all buffs they give is really nice. Microtransactons are meh. There are a lot of money grabs but most of it is for cosmetics of which you can easily get in game thanks to the gear boxes and currency being given out generously. Multiverse is very fun with the constant update of new challenges. Story is average but the ending is a little dissapointing.

It's not bad but more of it being less complex. The only really bad thing I can think of is that it used to be who ever was able to get the first hit could just combo the shit out of the other player. They fixed that now by giving players the ability to burn part if their meter in order to roll away or jump back a little in the air to mess up the opponents combos. I'm not super into fighting games though so take my word with a grain of salt
