I unironically love the PSP.
It had some great exclusives and the "PSOne" classics helped to round out it's multiplatform library.
That's good enough but when you put some CFW on it and busted that shit wide open, it was a whole other level. Emulators, easy piracy and lots of homebrew goodness.
Some of my fondest memories of the PSP was spending all day playing Monster Hunter and then relaxing with some emulated GBA games, Doom WADs and then having a sneaky wank with the porn I had saved on the memory card.
That said, it did have it's flaws with the shitty UMDs (not an issue if you used CFW to just pirate the games) and the mushy D-Pad.
I wouldn't consider it the best handheld of all time but I'd definitely consider it my favourite handheld of all time.
What are your thoughts on the PSP?

PSP was mindblowing back in 2005. PS1 games on a handheld, all those emulators and homebrew. Nowadays any android smartphone can do all that, though.
Really miss the old homebrew scene for PSP and DS before smartphones came and ruined everything.

The Go was fantastic. Best screen, better d-pad, amazing portability. The form did make MH kind of impossible on it but it was just so great on every other front. Used mine almost exclusively for JRPGs and if you're not into those the library is seriously lackluster but emulation more than makes up for it.

You can still replace the battery though.

Why do you need to be ironic to like the PSP?
It's really the best handheld ever made and it's tech was mind blowing bqca in late 2004 and it got great support from western AAA companies as well as Japanese ones, i'd say it was the hardcore gamer's handheld as opposed to the DS's more casual approch although it too had some great games.
