The problem was I went into ranked as early as I could and tried to support, but I didn't understand what supporting was so I ended up just doing nothing.
I'm climbing up really fast now because I played a few hundred more normal games and figured out how to play support properly. In ranked solo I play sven or AM so I can carry even with a bad team.

Playing the 3-4 position is hell. I don't want all the glory but fucking god damn it I deserve it. Not because I'm cocky but because I have an average of 80+% kill participation. I purchase the most wards. I gank the most often to feed the lanes. I split push when needed. I stack every fucking camp I possibly can and we lose because my team just isn't fucking good enough. It's actually really easy to replace models anon, just look up a guide on the web. I have skins I always wanted to have on my heroes so I only changed health bars (to see dunk points) and the rate at which the white damage from bar goes away. Dota 2 is quite flexible, except you can't do shit like range finder for blink dagger anymore

How many matches did you play to reach 5k? I have 1,207 in solo ranked, 1,790 games overall so I don't play unranked that much, and my peak was 3.5k, I am 3.2 after fucking around and dropping dota. I was tryharding to rice from 2k hell but ones reaching 3k I stopped. Hoverer I feel that after that much time wasted in this unholy game I am not 4k yet, but at the same time I keep seeing people with TWICE as many matches as me still being 3k shitters.

If you only have a 51% winrate you'll only win 20 games every 1000 games you play for +500 mmr every 1000 games. I get +500 MMR every 50 games.

There are bounty runes, jungle was unnerfed back to stacking. Pressuring enemy safe lane is a viable strat used by many team, before offlane was just a suicide/suffering lane with pressure potential much lover than now. Deathball is cancer and TI4 showed it. Because dota is balanced to pros it became much more team oriented, that is a natural way of things, it's a team game after all. Some aspects took on a weird spin like split pushing with summons being nerfed while at the same time illusion push getting cancerous, and early shrines were too imbalanced but old dota wasn't some candy land and had it's big share of problems as well.

So, how many games you have in solo ranked then? Mine is 54% wr, 70% is prodigy tier, esp if you can maintain it pass 5k because thats where people 'actually' play dota as I was told. I wish I could play in the same team as purge and donger, the only reason I would ever rice to 5k.

There's quite a lot of vindictive people in the mid 3k's I think. They don't like how they're not a higher mmr so they purposefully throw games if even the SLIGHTEST thing goes wrong.

Secure rosh. Farm jungle, when you farm lanes while the enemy team is stuck in base you are drip feeding them gold. You need to take every advantage having map control gives you by making use of the resources you have access to. Get wards down in useful locations, you can put them anywhere if the enemy team is stuck in base. Wards win games.

Find a pick on people that leave the base with your team. Shouldn't be hard since you have good vision from your map control presumably. If they don't leave then you just starve them out by getting every rosh and farming the entire map. One pick on an important hero can break highground on its own in a lot of games.

And remember that if you dive and die it is incredibly easy to feed away leads in this game with how comeback gold works. Pay attention to death timers and buybacks. Forgetting about them or not noticing them will get you killed.

Pipe of insight is a severely under purchased items in lower mmr games for highgrounding as well. Recognize heroes that are dangerous when you highground. Heroes like Magnus Enigma, Pudge, etc... need to be respected.

Make sure all the lanes are pushed in when you want to make a good highground push, especially against heroes like tinker, sniper, and kotl that can clear all your creeps.

Ward their highground between top and bot lane, as it's a huge flat area with no obstructions. that makes a siege less scary, then shove all lanes and go secure rosh, give it to frontliner so he can walk in and start hitting the tower safely, forcing enemy to do something about him.

I'm not even sure how to really play him at a high level, my best guess is that he works best in a duo offlane since then suicide squad can actually be threatening and you can somewhat control the enemies movement. I don't think there's anything more frustrating than being techies and being solo offlane vs. somebody who isn't braindead and realizes he can just attack move his way down the middle of the lane with no repercussions.
