I was under the impression that the Emil fighting off an alien invasion thing was originally non canon, until it became canon with Automata

I haven't read or seen any side material so a fair amount is lost on me. But is the jist that:
-humans are all dead and moon is empty or other androids are just stationed there
-androids just create more androids and send them on pointless 'missions' making them fuck around on earth for no reason other than to pretend the whole 'save the earth for humans' facade is still true

Drakengard 2 had a god awful story (if you played D1, you spent the entire game calling the cast a bunch of morons), but much better gameplay (meaning its servicable - nothing revolutionary). Drakengard 2 gets fun on Extreme Mode. Imagine having to kill hundreds or thousands of enemies every level, and any enemy can kill you in 1-3 hits. You get 6 items you can take with you into each stage (could recover health, recover magic, or give you a temporary strength buff, etc).

It's honestly the biggest thing behind me not consigning the 2B-9S relationship that game tries to push. They haven't convinced me that their relationship and feelings for each other make any real sense outside of "just because". That's crappy romance IMHO.

In Memory Thorn she merely likes him and wants him to die without feeling pain.
She started developing serious feelings only after his first death which led to her meltdown in Memory Thorn.
And 9S evolves extremely quickly and falls for her after few months already. In Memory Thorn he saw all her memories of killing him before yet it only made him love her more, to a point he gave her life a new purpose and decided to kill himself so they could be together in the future.

Whole concept of Automata is two lonely, broken androids falling for each other and becoming better through their love. 2B, despite trying to act cold, is probably the most virtuous person in the main cast, 9S gets heavily influenced by her and becomes a better person too. Their feeling for each other touches even Pods and N2 in the end, which results in ending E.
