I know, and in reality even I can see that it's objectively well executed. It's just not the game I want to play, and that frustrates me because ES2 in every other respect outside of combat is exactly the 4X of my dreams, so it not "clicking" with me is painful.

I'm definitely not the target demo, I just wish to fucking hell that I was.

Not pop culture, it's MtG terminology. In another phrasing, stop being so concerned with making sure you're always winning and start looking at games you play with your friends as opportunities to try to pull off ridiculous mechanical combos or other game-bending but not game-breaking strategies.

Trust me, it's a ton more satisfying to pull off the ridiculous than it is to fulfill the inevitable.

How? The AI is terrible at unit equipment management. The only thing that should give you trouble is Vaulters in mid and late game.

I completed the campaign just 1 time, never played it again, I liked it and the fantasy world in it is good but I have played better games of that kind
