I've played 1 and 2 and they felt samey and I didn't enjoy them that much beyond the visuals.

I recently got a PS4 and it came with 4, which I wanted to play. Should I buy and play 3, or is it just the same exact shit as 1 and 2? Is 4 actually any different beyond some new mechanics? I liked TLOU.

Well, the overall product is better than mediocre. The gameplay and stories (bar 4 and parts of 3) are exceptionally mediocre, but you can't just ignore the production values and how good the soundtracks (especially 3, God I love that OST), art direction and dialogue are.

Overall I feel like they're 6-7/10s. Nothing outstanding, but I still like them because I grew up with Indiana Jones shit and I like treasure hunter adventures.

The Last of Us was an 8.5 though.

Last of Us would also be a 7/10 imo. The gameplay was also rather mediocre, and the fact that a game with such an intrusive narrative got so many GOTY awards annoys the shit outta me. It's criminal to realize it got higher scores than a purely gameplay-driven masterpiece like Dark Souls.

And yeah I was mainly referring to the boss at the end of 2 which is a shitter. I played through all of 2 and half of 3 plus the demo of the first game but that barely counts. Exactly, "its ok" is not a revolutionary 10/10 game that is a MUST PLAY, it is pretty average. I do not see what makes it so much better than other TPS games essentially. Yup on the "puzzles" and fuck off the game literally has set piece after set piece in which you move gradually forward while in "serious peril". These segments could fucking play themselves 9 times out of 10
