I am almost sure it'll have a story in the sense that all the Tekken games did. You choose the arcade mode. You may or may not get a short cinematic for your character. You fight all the characters. Some shit goes down and you get some boss cinematic(s). And then you likely get some cinematic for your character's end of some kind.

The end. Is what I am guessing. Possibly with something unlockable with something to add further.
But I am not really expecting much else. Though I am expecting something like this. And Tekken was always cool like that, making you invested in the characters and the setting.

If you want to get extra meta with it, look at the original punch-out and think of the whole david vs goliath/underdog theme of little mac going up against mountains and fucking mike tyson.

The boss looks hulkish as fuck regardless of mask+asura arm buff compared to spring man, so I have a simple theory/estimation of it based on past stuff.

Since arms is pretty much a massivelly overfocused and overhauled/redeveloped idea of what Wii sports boxing was ( and specifically seeing how that also was a thinly-veiled tech demo for a punch-out remake) it's possibly expected that -should- ARMS have a legit story mode and a sequel that carries story over from the first, it's likely that spring man beats the champ.

The singleplayer mode in ARMS, from what they've shown, is essentially an arcade mode, you go in and fight a bunch of dudes and there's some story to go along with it maybe. I was on the fence, mainly cause i wasn't sure what games I wanted. I'm not starved for games, I have a fucking pc. But arms looks like something that could be a stupid fun game. Added to that if my local tourney scene is supposedly interested in making it competitive, so we'll see how that goes. If nothing else, my brother and me are gonna have a shit ton of fun and have already decided our mains. It was this, USFII (which a 40 dollar price is a big of a sting to me) MK8 Deluxe (I already have the wii i version so I'm not entirely driven to get it) and splatoon 2. This just seems like a decent bang for your buck atm on the switch, and I'd like to think it's gonna grow.

Wasn't interested in Arms and watched the Direct yesterday by chance. Stream was really fun to watch and I'll probably play on the test server if I get a Switch in time.

If I get the game for about 35 bucks I'll probably consider it depending on how many people I know are interested as well.
