It's great BUT Arkane bring back the Trauma system you removed:

>Concussion - Reduced psi capacity || Reduced resistance to psychic and fear attacks || Blurry vision
Use Brained pills or visit a Medical Operator. Neuromod installation also removes concussions.

>Fracture - Movement impaired || Cannot sprint
Use a Skeletal Repair Kit or visit a Medical Operator.

>Hemorrhage (aka Laceration or "Bleeding")
Take extra damage from physical attacks || Sprinting causes damage
Use Coagulating Gel or visit a Medical Operator. Trauma diminishes over time.

>Third Degree Burns - Reduced maximum health
Use Dermaweb Skin Graft or visit a Medical Operator.

>Blind - Impaired vision || Reduced accuracy with firearms
Effect is temporary.

FUCK PLAYTESTERS.

It's a good game, but it's only good when the systems in place could have created an amazing game.

There are too many enemies and FAAAAAR too many supplies. The recycle system should have been for deciding if you wanted to recycle medpacks (if you had a few) into bullets that you desperately needed, but you also are not sure if you really should get rid of the medpacks or not.

I played through the whole game on nightmare, and by the time you get to the midgame you have infinite ammo, infinite healing items, and can shit out enough neuromods to get whatever the fuck you want. It made the game go from an exciting survivaly-actiony-horroy mash up to just being a straight action game with you sprinting through the levels blowing shit up with your mind and a fully upgraded shotgun.

Again, it's fun, and the game is good, but it's just so disappointing. In a game like this you should want every bullet, every medpack, every bit of food you can scrounge to count, but it simply doesn't.

Mirrors are impossible to do with deferred rendering, and 99% of modern games are using it. Hopefully DX12 will solve this at some point in the future. You can actually make the distinction at a glance - all games with functioning mirrors have distinct 'mid-2000-ies' looks and graphics (DX9) indicative of forward rendering

Prey's first few hours are the best part of the game. You know, the part where enemies are actually dangerous, and you barely have any ammo and actually have to try and get creative.

The game loses most if its steam near the endgame when Morgan becomes a psychic god who can blow up anyone by thinking about it.

I really enjoyed this game, Talos station felt so much more 'alive' than Rapture, or Black Mesa, or any of those sorts of places. The attention to detail in the different notes, hearing about the relationships and etc. on the transcripts, and how each of the side-characters seemed to have personalities...

So much so that it was quite saddening to find some of them dead (Abby), especially with all the 'happy' activites you find - the D&D game, the birthday party and particularly the singing (one of the most memorable scenes, probably).

All of that was eroded by the ending, which felt like a complete slap in the face. You go through the whole game finding bits and pieces, trying to figure out what happened, only for it... to all be a simulation. Nothing mattered. In fact, you don't even know what happened or what didn't on the actual Talos-1 - since Alex says the simulation was based on Morgan's memories. Hell, you don't even know what happened to Morgan.

It's a total bullshit ending where the writers clearly wanted to try to look smart. I can smell Chris Avellone all over it, really, since it seems he's only capable of writing the same amnesia / changing personalities shit that only ever worked well in PS:T.
All the relationships you tried to make over the game, with Mikhaila and even Alex, all were meaningless. I thought it was going to be about Morgan either redeeming themself or sinking into madness, after their role in the experiments, but no... the ending just spits on it all, opens up a whole new can of questions without answering anything.

If we got more answers about Morgan, a real payoff for the relationships you built and the redemption of nuMorgan it could have been really interesting.

>>377241761

>>377254316
I think there shouldn't have been a nuMorgan. There should've been a payoff for the relationships, though, and a redemption for the real Morgan.
The biggest punch was probably that the people I painstakingly tried to save were just fucking operators in the 'real ending' - what the fuck was even up with that? Were they dead? How many years in the future was it? Again, it just opens so many questions and answers nothing.

>>
>>377255173
The thing is, I don't doubt they're going to milk it and have a sequel or DLC or both.

But I don't see how they're going to do that with how the current one ended, unless they do a Mass Effect and 'rewrite' the ending.

If they wanted to jew out and milk sequels, they could've literally done anything else in the ending:
You escape the station, or blow it up, or whatever... but there are more Typhon coming. Or maybe the Typhon reach earth, and in the sequel you need to stop them. Or perhaps it could be about the moon or other stations the characters sometimes mention, with the other Yu family members.
But no, they pull this weird shit and I really don't see what they could do.

On a side-note, did anyone else find it really jarring that you personally never speak... however January constantly talks to people with your voice. Why not just have Morgan talk?

It's most likely that the TyphonMorgan you play as is unable to speak for whatever reason. Maybe because it mimics his memories, and can read, but can't emulate vocal cords?

I'm really saddened by the lack of weapon variety.

I think it could have done with 2 or 3 more firearms. You don't want to go overboard, but with limited inventory space it would have been cool to make some choices in what you carry around.

I would have, personally, made at least a magnum and a submachine gun. The Magnum would be very high damage, slow fire rate, high recoil, and extremely rare/expensive ammo. SMG would be a close to medium range style weapon with high recoil and low damage.

If you add in more weapons and more weapon types, you really wouldn't be able to carry around all the weapons and all the bullets for them. It would have been neat to have different options.

I played the entire game on the hardest difficulty and at no point at all was it even remotely difficult.

If you're a hoarder and know how to spec in the earlier parts of the game it's laughably easy due to the abundance of food and the fact that you can craft neuromods/ammo.

Alright hold the fuck up, I killed January and activated the nullwave transmitter, and then I shook Alex's hand. Is the earth still covered in coral no matter if I blow up the station or not? What really happened to Morgan Yu if you were a typhon hybrid all along?

>tfw you are Strelok v2
>>
>>377289601
you can turn into turrets with the mimic ability but actually don't know if you can shoot during it never tried it
>>
>phantoms just casually one shot turrets

ok then, i hope fortify actually does something noticeable
>>
What's the difference between Nightmare and Hard?
>>
>>377289954
Eh, I never bothered with fortifying. It costs spare parts so I just ended up placing turrets in better positions.
>>
>>377289354
Pirated MEA hated 99% of it but still 100% it
>>
>>377289751
very likely just dead, there's all kinds of theories now like the one where morgan was originally just a mimic and used the mimic ability when it saw alex theres a line that sounds like it connects that
>>377289954
turrets are ass there's no point in repairing them only time you need them is in the loading zone
>>
>>377241807

def not plot based since you can scan yourself and get an achievement for it

Hard is piss easy baby mode, Nightmare is piss easy baby mode with a few more one-shot attacks.

The game legitimately needed a harder difficulty, it's insanely easy.

But I guess that's just what you get with console shooters.

I'm 12 hours in and going slow as shit. My opinions so far:
-The psychogoggles were a mistake. Either make them only detect a mimic when close or get rid of it altogether and make mimics give a few more tells like sounds or random shaking if your back is turned or something.
-Combat should center around locking the enemy down with a stun/gloo/hazard/psi and then meleeing it or throwing heavy shit into it. They should develop that more and not even have a pistol or shotgun.
-Weapon upgrading system could be way more robust. Maybe a suit upgrade system too.

I'm really liking the game though. The mindfuckery stuff is nice.

>>-Combat should center around locking the enemy down with a stun/gloo/hazard/psi and then meleeing it or throwing heavy shit into it. They should develop that more and not even have a pistol or shotgun.
Are you kidding me? I was so fucking glad when I started encountering enemies that actually dealt damage just by standing next to them, I was getting insanely bored of the whole "gloo, wrench, rinse repeat" system.

The shotgun was way too powerful though. Can you imagine that shit if they added more upgrade options?
>>
>>377290969
One constant shotting is kinda lame, I'd be fine with insane just making enemies much faster in spotting you, more enemies roaming everywhere and having fabricator ammo boxes give you half of what they do now.
>>
>>377291562
mimic detection chip lets you see them though they're only annoying at the start
>>377291678
>tfw you fully upgrade the shotgun and fully upgrade weapon damage neuromod plus get the shotgun critical chip++
shit is crazy
>>
fabricator makes way too much ammo

when do you get alien powers?
im like two hours in after the first hour(getting the second part of the video message) i just abandoned the main mission and explored around for like an hour but i have not found any clue as to how to unlock new skilltrees let alone alien powers.

you're pretty early on you dont get it till the psychotronics you actually can't continue unless you grab anyway so youll know
>>
>>377289954
I know, dude, I know.

In Bioshock 1 you could lockdown a level by hacking everything in sight. As soon as a splicer spawned, the entire level would erupt in camera-beeps, whirring helicopters and rocket-fire. In Prey, it's nowhere near the case. You can put five turrets next to each other and one Phantom will still manage to knock them all over somehow.

They're not useless though, they just can't get attacked or they'll immediately shit the bed. I used them a lot in the early game by setting one up at a doorway, luring a phantom through the door, and then smacking the phantom with the wrench. If you hide well, the turret will pull Phantom aggro as it walks through the door, and then you ragdoll him before he gets the shot off. Phantom should die before he gets to stand up again.

I rate it easily 8/10

It only ranks behind Bioshock 1 for me.

Not really my type of game. I went blind in expecting Prey 1 and left disappointment. I'd probably give it 3.5/5.

>>
>>377283635
I definitely did. Seems like they had ~14 different faces and the vast majority were gook or niggy. I figured because it's a space station, they'd be globally-focused, want the best of the best, and nationality wouldn't be relevant.

At least there weren't any trannies, fags or shims.
>>
>>377294435
True ending being kill or help Alex?.
