Is the PS1 version JP only?

I know Destiny and Destiny 2 US (Eternia) were on PS1 but I don't recall Phantasia getting a port till GBA.

Also most SNES ports were hit an miss, love FF6 but the music isn't as good because its not optimized for GBA. Shame when Golden Sun has a god tier OST

May want to try the ps1 version with translation if ever replaying, it expands on it a fair deal. Or PSP version whenever it gets translated (haven't been keeping up with that).

I posted Golden Sun because Sakuraba did that game as well as Phantasia so it is disappointing that it doesnt sound as good on GBA since he clearly knew how to get good sounds out of it

To be fair, I'm not finished with Berseria yet, but I really think the combat system is a step down from all the other Tales games.
It's so easy; I usually have to play Tales games on Normal difficulty, but I have no problem playing Berseria on Hard. All I do is start a battle, check the enemies' weaknesses, and spam attacks that deal the most damage. It can sometimes be fun in a Dynasty Warriors, attack-lots-of-enemies-at-once kinda way, but if you're only fighting one enemy, it's pretty awful.
Also, I HATE souls. If you run out of souls, you're pretty much fucked. All you can do is slowly attack and hope that you inflict stun. Otherwise your only option is so try and block an attack at the last second, which you don't get an opportunity to do often since the enemies usually attack your AI teammates. And even if you can, the soul spawns somewhere else on the battlefield, meaning you have to stop and grab it. I've even seen some of my AI teammates stealing souls that I managed to spawn.
There are also a number of minor glitches, like something happening without me pressing a button (happens mostly in menus and in combat). The story is kind of interesting so far, I like the subtle references to the other Tales games, but overall, Zestiria is a better game.

Im running my first playthough of Phantasia right now. I started with DeJap's SNES translation, but switched to the PS1 version after I got to the boat scene regarding tigers after an anon suggested I do so. I'm really liking it so far, and I wonder why we never got it here in the USA. I Like it more than FFIII on SNES.
