It's confusing and boring to watch.
>>
>>377223815
Because every game is the fucking same.

Same fights at the same chokes with the same handful of it combos occasionally wiping one team.
>>
>>377224069
>confusing

Do you struggle mentally with lots of stuff?
>>
I'm more surprised that sc2 is still that high.
>>
>>377223815

it's too simple mechanics-wise to become a successful esport

M8 I'm not judging. My friend has autism so I know what it's like to be retarded
>>
>>377223815
Theres no variation in the gameplay, same picks every game is just boring since balance is shit and the gap between 'great' and 'everyone else' is to big.

thanks for your patience. I should get some fidget spinners to help me concentrate
>>
>>377223815
First Person Shooters are shit for being a spectator sport. The first person perspective by itself is crap for anyone not in control of the camera, you can only see the playing field through one perspective at a time, and environmental cameras don't do shit for showing you the most important plays as they're going on. A lot of shit happens at the same time since there isn't any kind of focus like a ball on the field, so there is no way for spectators to observe nor even commentators to catch all of the details, even on replays.

RTS/MOBA and fighting games are great for spectators because you can see everything that is happening at once.
RTS has the minimap so the spectator admin can immediately jump to any point of action, and viewers can see the general goings on with the battlefield.
And everything about a fighting game is going on inside of the frame.
>>
Because it was forced and had no precedent.

Counter-Strike and DotA have had competition for ages, CS:GO and DotA 2 didnt need to force their own competitive communities because of the games before them.

Boring, slow shooter that's so shallow it's gimped any potential for interesting strategy and boiled down player expression into hero skins or selecting their "main" hero and playing that with zero variety for the millionth time.

Same reason Tee Ball never became a competitive sport.
>>
1) blizzard can't balance any of their games for shit
2) there is nothing "competitive" about a 33 tickrate game, and anyone who says otherwise is braindamaged.
besides, if you want a competitive FPS you already have CSGO

Have you tried actually watching it?

It is boring AS FUCK.

It's almost like you're implying Overwatch wasn't riding off the back of something from 2007, plus 1999 and 1996 by proxy.
>>
>>377223815
That image didn't tell you anything did it?
>>
>>377231045
SC2 is actually interesting to watch and learn from, unlike shooters and MOBAs.

Commentators who know the game can teach you shit just by listening to them explain setups and strats.

"Wow dat wavedash" in fighting and "amazing snipe from NiggerCunt49!" teach you nothing.
>>
>>377223815
I fucking hope it does
Esport scene does nothing but kill games/communities, specially if developers do nothing but listen "pro players"
>>
>>377223815
The fans.
>>
>#5 most viewed with no major events going on before the Overwatch Global League has even gotten off the ground
>Not popular

Are you fucking high or something?
>>
>>377223815
It lacks competitive play and is boring as hell to watch unlike a real competitive game like Mario Party
>>
>>377223904
"It's shit" isn't an excuse, every game on there is shit.
>>
>>377224264
You say that, but League of Legends fucking supplanted Starcraft as the world's most popular esport. Mobas don't have anywhere near as much complexity as an actual RTS.

Also, I wouldn't say Overwatch has failed given that the Koreans have launched a league that's in its third season.
>>
>>377231578

Dota2, starcraft, and rocket league are decent games
>>
>>377231578
its hard to watch as an esport.
>>
>>377224264
Almost every complicated game is supplanted by simpler ones though? SFV is the most viewed fighter, RTS is nowhere to be seen, neither is arena fps, most braindead genre on top, etc.
>>
>>377223815
It's not a good game to watch, there's too much shit happening at once because it comes down to holding choke points and is a constant clusterfuck
>>
>>377231670
>StarCraft 2.
Nope.
>DOTA 2.
Nope.
>Rocket League.
Fun but casual shit.
>>
>>377230991

this. Blizz being Blizz with the price tag as always. Their greed killed SC2 custom map scene, and they still haven't learned anything
>>
>>377231670
Mobas are the opitome of shit. They're BR shitter games with the worst communities in the history of the planet that somehow got popular.

Mobafags make Nintendofags, Sonyfags and Soulsfags look like dignified people instead of the annoying shit posters they they are. LoL is the Canada of video games and DotA is the Australia of video games.
>>
>>377223815
Its too shallow ,casual and team based for watching personal skill- aim, movement, positioning.
Its not deep and complex strategically and tactically like mobas, for exiting teamfights and maneuvers
>>
>>377223815
Blizzard doesn't know how to manage esports

Spectating and understanding it sucks because of the lack of resources and chaotic gameplay

Not very fun on competitive levels whatsoever due to shitty balancing

I get what you guys are saying, but OW will never be a successful esport because it was built from ground up to be a casual friendly game. The matches are always very similar to each other, there's not much you can do when it boils down to mechanics.

also, Blizzard isn't really putting any effort into making more content, it's been 6 months since the last new map and the latest hero looked like something out of Battleborn, with its ability kit being nothing more than mishmash of other character's.
>>
>>377232023
What do you mean they killed it? It wasn't as lively as TFT but no game since has been as good in that regard. Also, TFT's custom map scene was bolstered by the fact that the actual game sucked while Starcraft 1 & 2 were actually good games. And no matter how hard you want to say Starcraft 2 is shit, it will always be leagues better than Blademaster vs. Blademaster 3.

>>377232513
That ENTIRE argument can be said about Mobas, CS or Quake.

People have been playing and watching faggots AWP on Dust for nearly 2 decades and it's still going. People watched players rail enemies and deny armor packs on maps so old that they were just called dm1-6 as short for "death match". Mobas generally have one map for fucking tournaments and the meta in LoL is disgustingly stagnant and comebacks are so infrequent that it's painful to watch.

The fucking truth that people don't seem to get is that actual depth and complexity doesn't matter, only popularity and marketing. LoL beat Starcraft 2 because Riot put their events in the LoL launcher while Blizzard strongarmed KESPA and didn't advertise the GSL at all.

>OW is just as complex as Quake and CS
>>
>>377233380
And while I'm ranting about shit. What is the deal with Esports teams firing players for minor shit?

The best Overwatch team in Korea shitcanned two or their players for being dicks but meanwhile in real sports you can be responsible for the death of hundreds of dogs, be a rapist, domestic abuser, or outright murderer and teams will still chomp at the bit to sign you if you're talented enough.
>>
>>377233789
I never said that. Merely that audiences didn't care about "matches playing out the same". I say this as someone who watches hundreds of baseball games a year.
>>
>>377223815
Doto finally won against league?
>>
>>377223815
Because it tried to be a good competitive MOBA and a good competitive FPS, without realizing that the fundamentals of a good competitive FPS (being able to move quickly, being powerful as an individual, a focus on mechanical skill) horribly conflict with the fundamentals of a good competitive MOBA (everyone moves about the same speed depending on abilities, individuals are weak and must rely on teammates, a focus on strategic ability)

tldr it tried being a good fps and a good moba and ended up being neither
>>
>>377223815
It's too shallow. That's what happens when dumbing down gets out of hand. Heroes of the Storm isn't any different.
>>
>>377223815
because its too casul
>>
>>377233804
I guess its because the players that get fired aren't really making that much money for the management (not very popular) or their abilities really aren't anything special and can be replaced easily. A legend from SC would probably have to start throwing jews in the gas chamber before his firing is even considered.

This sounds pretty autistic, m8.
If you have trouble keeping up with whatever's happening you probably suck at any game that has more than 2 particle effects in the entire game.
>>
>>377223815
Why did a one year old game fail to break into the top of a category with established leaders that have been around for ages? Gee anon, I wonder.
>>
>>377223815
Fuck Overwatch, the real discussion here is

>RNGstone in 4th

Why do people like watching competitive dice rolling?
>>
>>377238081

Because hearthstone still has potential to be a good game, despite the devs basically saying "fuck that, here's some more rng." It's worth noting that it's playerbase has been dropping very rapidly after each of the last 3 new expansion spikes
>>
Because there's zero depth to it. You could watch a 1000 games in a row and never recognise a team that was playing and the only 'good' memorisable moments would be the coordinated ults, that are the same everytime
>>
>>377223815
unless they add in Spectator cam with a fucking stable cam, it will never goes well. Watching 10 minutes of an OW stream and i'm already feeling nauseated at the camera work.
Can't fucking wait for ow league to crash and burn tho, gon feel good
