I don't think all Smash 4 fans are retarded, misguided maybe, but maybe they see something in smash 4 that others don't. Well, I used to anyway. Nobody plays them with me anymore because they want to exclusively play Melee or 20XX. Items are always off. We only play the same six stages. The only way I can even keep up with everyone using Fox, Falco, Marth, Sheik, or Captain Falcon is by using those same characters.

If later Smash games focused so heavily on high-level play, they would be as boring as Melee. Maybe fighting autists get something out of Melee, but for everyone who wants to play for random fun, it basically ensures that they can't play how they want as long as the hyper competitive Meleefags are around.

The problem with the smash community is that it's a 1v1 game. So the "community" is just a bunch of people ever ready to build their own egos.

There's no teamwork or strategic element outside of your own control. So it attracts the most autistic of the autistic. It's also nintendo, so that's another checkmark for the autism levels. AND it's relatively easy to get into, another checkbox.

Whereas something like Street Fighter, while still having the 1v1 problems, has a natural barrier of skill to keep some level of autism at bay.

These reasons are why, and I'm 100% genuine here, Dota has the best community in the gaming world.
