It's good but it takes fucking forever to fully open up.

There's like 30 hours of content with Madarame/Kaneshiro and everything around it that should've been summed up a lot quicker.

There should've been more areas to actually check out in Tokyo rather than one off/date locations.

They need to stop continuously introducing party members up until the last 1/5 of the game. Just find a way to introduce multiple characters earlier and give use everyone and open the options up much earlier.

the themeing on those four dungeons is great. All stuff that actively borrows from the kind of stories the game pays homage to. Then you get the pyramid which is totally Indiana Jones. It's okay but it doesn't fit as neatly with the rest.

Then the factory/spaceport and the ship and the final dungeon are just bad.

First half of the game is 3.5/4 on dungeons. Second half is 1/4 sadly.

One is a rushed game that takes 15-20 hours

I cared about Ryuji, Morgana, Sojiro, and to a lesser extent Ann and Makoto. All the girl characters suffered because they had to also be waifubait, but still. Oda, and Iwai also had really good confidants. Haru and Yusuke are forgettable, Futaba actively detracts from the story and the game so badly tries to make you care about her that it just annoys me, but at least some of the characters I liked...

For me the twist was pretty good because the game sets you up for it pretty well if you are genre-savvy with anime by playing every single anime trope as straight as possible right up until the about face. It could have been better handled but the way the story gives away one twist to distract you from the real twist was britty gud.

I mean it's good, but I just blew through it in like 73 hours and I don't feel like playing it again anytime soon. To be honest I didn't like that around 20% of my time was stressing over getting all my stats up for a NG+ run. I prefer 4 because I think the only compelling character in 3 is Junpei, the end sequence is great btu everything before it is a slog and I found the TV World to be less of a slog relative to Tartarus. Everything was more shallow in P4, but it was fun for what it was. P3 has the higher highs, but I think it also has the lower lows, I rank both game pretty low among all of MegaTen, but P5 is one of my favorite games in the series, if not my single favorite.

Also, one other thing I would say in favor of P4, is that of P3, P4 and P5, P4G is the only one that feels really complete to me. P3, the vanilla release of 4 and P5 all feel like their missing something to me, but P4G just feels very well rounded and complete.
