Both are pretty different JRPGs when it comes to their focus or audience. FF has been tripping all over itself for a while though so there isn't much to dethrone.

Judging purely from the perspective of FF 10/10-2/12/13-2/LR vs P3/P4/P5. In fact, it doesn't get better for SMT even if I include my absolute favourites (Nocturne and Strange Journey), but those are not Persona titles.

Persona 5 was better then Final Fantasy 15 at least.
