>tfw discovered old games ~12 years ago and still playing through classic DOS RPGs like Albion, Ishar, Krondor, Goldbox, etc.
>tfw mixing it with some older goodies like Bloodlines, Arcanum, Jagged Alliance 2, Gothic 2, and least trashy console games like Saga Frontier and Suikoden 2
>tfw can continue literally for decades

>Krondor
Open world, fantastic writing, RPG, having to figure out every quest on your own, world changes with every chapter, interesting turn-based combat, riddle chests.
I felt like nearly everything that happened in Krondor compelled you to play on. Every discovery felt like it mattered. When you found a new weapon or armor you got fucking stoked. For some reason games nowadays don't feel like that; they'd rather fill the game with piles upon piles of useless junk; they don't plan on item discovery being exciting.
Dark Souls 1 was a lot like Krondor wherein discovery was exciting. Then they fucked it all up with every subsequent game. Achieved it again with Bloodborne, then lost it for Dark Souls 3.
