>video games will never look like this in your lifetime
What happened?
you bought an xbox?
>>377177143
You watching shit movies for brain-dead children.
>>377177143
people pre-order games before they are out
why make it look pretty when people will buy even if they are blindfolded
>>377177143
Are you dying, OP?
Do you need to talk about it?
Have a cute FGG
GOTG2 confirmed capekino of the year?
>>377177143
Would you want them to spend millions on cgi and have the game be 2 hours long?
Who would want that?
>OPs will always be reposts
What happened?
>>377177224
And you argue about video games to strangers online
not saying one is better than the other, but if we're making a list of pathetic shit lets include both
>>377177641
U mad, marvelbitchboy?
>>377177475
Easy replies
>>377177812
not even him, but fuck off. if you want to talk about movies >>>/tv/
>>377178082
Stay mad as f
capeshit nigger
someone explain to me why movies can look like this but video games can't, I am not very technologically proficient.
>>377178201
>implications
are you sure YOU'RE not the brain dead children you're talking about?
>>377178392
Movies are made with teams of artists and modelers to create Rocket and Groot and all kinds of shit, and use special hardware to render that shit.
All you have is your single, shitty toaster.
Rocket is so cute. I hope there are raccoons in the next Animal Crossing
>>377178392
Because games would have to render that shit in real time. Your toaster would explode.
>>377178392
Games have to render graphics out at at least 30 frames per second, movies don't have that issue.
>>377178392
rendering realistic cgi takes a long time
>>377178590
I recognize that art style, and that rodent.
...Damn it.
Fuck all of y'all. I have a few issues with my father so this movie hit home worst than it probably intended.
I still love that old bastard...
>>377178392
Movies are pre-rendered, games have to be rendered in real time. Basically, movie CGI is created by hardware that is far beyond what any consumer could ever have and it still can take insanely long to render even one frame because they use stuff like ray tracing that just isn't plausible to use in real time now.
>>377178910
who's the artist? dobson?
>>377178392
Games are rendered in real time, movie cgi is rendered in a render farm for many hours.
>>377178392
Game: ~8 - 33.3ms to render a frame on consumer hardware.
Movie: ~4 hours to render a frame on a massive server cluster.
Do games look as good as FFVIII's opening yet?

Everything you see in a video game is calculated and rendered on a computer all at once. You can look around and see different things in a game because all the geometry is actually there.
Movies are just video. Movies are just lots of pictures being changed at once.
Video Game: Mathematics+AI+Sounds+Scripts+Geometry+Video
Movies:Video+Sound
1 frame from a movie can take hours to "render"
1 frame from a video game has to take 1/30th or 1/60th of a second to render
>>377178392
Because every frame of a cgi movie is developed and processed over several years, while your video game is processed in real time, as you play it.
>>377178910
>>377178958
I'm guessing Emenius.
hollywood cgi studios are at the cutting edge of this shit and use massive rendering farms for even a single frame
even the biggest AAA studios can't compete with ILM

> 11 years ago, still better than anything a video game will do 11 years from now

>v-video games are art guys!
>still can't compare to the original Toy Story
>>377180564
yeap.
Hard to recognize him without a massive rodent dick inside him.
>>377177143
Graphically something close to that should be possible if consoles use architecture from 2020 targeting ~200watt total power draw with a target of 1080p for next gen.
Animation wise we're fucked. We're also fucked if 4K becomes a standard.
