Part of Persona's appeal is in how you get to see what Japan is like. It's neat to see the city through P3, small town life in P4, and the more fast-paced hustle and bustle in P5. It is kinda fun since I've never been, so it's neat to see new shit.

If a Persona game took place in a notable area of America though, that could be fun. So long as it's competently made, it'd be interesting to see their take on that culture/society. It'd lose the novelty since I live in the U.S., but if it's able to tackle some issues really only present in western society that could be cool.

A year after I graduated, my state passed some "integration" measures in a few counties, mine being one of them. The gist is that the county would alter busing routes (making most of them twice as long) to shuttle local dindus from their section 8 areas in an effort to eliminate the issue of 98%+ white schools.

According to my cousin, who went there for three years after me, the school got violently nig'd up. It was so bad that parents started shoving their kids in the local Catholic school.

I don't think Persona in a modern american highschool would work. At least half the people that play Persona aren't Japanese and aren't very familiar with Japanese HS as a setting and enjoy Persona because they get to explore that setting. There are a lot of people in the US and Europe that played a Persona game or two that don't really watch anime. There are probably lots of people in the US / EU who played P4 and P5 and liked them but have only seen very basic anime like GitS, Naruto, and DBZ and that's it. My point is that people in general are more familiar with American HS as a setting.

My friend had to transfer to a new high school when they got sent off to live with their dad in southern California (about 45 min out from LA). The stories they'd tell me was was some machiavellian Mean Girls shit I didn't think was possible.
