I went back to it also and I still found it surprisingly enjoyable. 4 haters tend to overrate it for various things but I honestly love the daytime music and was constantly jamming out on the analog sticks to the songs, and the last month remixes are amazing.

The gameplay is tedious but outside of a couple of mini bosses it's so easy it doesn't feel like too much of a drag. Fuck the old light/dark system though.

The only dungeon themes that I haven't listened to outside the game are Sweatshop and Mementos, those two are just genuinely bad.

It was cool, but I felt like you had such little time to let the story up until that point sink in that it didn't have that much impact for me. If there had been another arc's worth of setup, it would have been fine. Coming right out of fighting Shido which was actually built-up for the entirety of the game and not figuring out what the real villain is until the very end of the momentos dungeon & only having like an hour to mull it over, tops, was kinda weird.

Grinding isn't really necessary in any MegaTen game, what's important are the Personas you have and the skills they have.
For the upcoming boss a multi target physical ability is recommended.

Yeah stealth has crazy repercussions in this game. It can either make or break a battle. I think the only times I've died are when the enemy surprise attacks me and wipes out the entire team with consecutive critical/weakness moves.

I still remember that fucking Skadi casting Fear on everyone and one-shotting with ghastly wail in the casino dungeon I think.

Did anyone else find the Gun mechanic a little underwhelming? For being so heavily limited, I would have assumed that the damage would be much higher compared to just a normal physical attack.

Tower makes them borderline OP when you have the ammo for the instant down, but at that point it's basically just another spell to use rather than either fishing for crits or using it for gun weaknesses.

I found p5 underwhelming. The story begins to lag at around the 3rd palace and then kinda sorta picks upp when futaba joins and then just completely shits the bed after that.

Ending was cliche as fuck, but I guess if I liked when it happened in P3 which was the exact same shit I can't dislike it here. P3 story actually held up all the way untli the end though and the weight of the final boss and ending felt heavy because of all the build up and foreshadowing, whereas here the stakes never really have a chance to build up, they kinda just shit exposition onto you in one meaty turd near the end and expect the player to feel anything.

Was the game rushed or something? Playing after Madarame's palace is akin to playing Dark Souls after Anor Londo. It just feels like the time wasn't put in like it was for the previous parts.

Yeah the Phantom Thieves are kinda boring outside of their "work." What's even worse is they're completely oblivious to it, like the game sets up Mishima as a sad faggot obsessed with the Phantom Thieves, but then Ryuji and the others do nothing but bitch as well.

There's only a handful of times when they all collectively hang out just for the sake of friendship and have fun. Hell even then the story will rear up and cockblock them from having P4-style anime hijinks, like their trip to Not-Disney World.

Because there is absolutely nothing and I mean nothing interesting about Persona 4 or 3 for that matters """dungeons""" they are literal hallway simulators and the combat isn't engaging enough to make up for the complete lack of involvement in the dungeons.
Persona 5's dungeons aren't amazing but at least they actually try to engage the player and have a fun sneaking mechanic to keep things somewhat fresh.

It has one of the worst difficulty curves of any SMT game with everything being super fucking easy until you get to the pixel boss and then it has a huge spike before becoming easy again dude to late game Personas being so strong.

It reduced damage types to the smallest number in any Persona game and most SMT.

The story is really annoying for most people. It's not funny to make the eighth joke about how the girls can't cook and it's funny. No exaggeration, an hour of my life was spent reading jokes about that topic in the course of that game. I love how you preemptively defend this stupid shit by asking if it's not edgy enough.
