Its the presentation and graphics that kill these games and plenty other anime games for me. I'm not sure what it is, laziness? Some very rigid "the characters HAVE to look a certain way that represents the anime" kind of thing? Regardless they always look very bland to the point where it always feels like I'm looking at a PS3 game.

At one point they're standing under some kind of gate/like roof and the lighting on the girls isn't affected at all like they aren't part of the scene even but the game looking good probably isn't what matters to the target demographic. If you liked Estival might as well check out Shinovi Versus, pretty much the same thing but with some differences like a faster feel, some characters having infinite dashes, etc. But of course, being a previous game means it lacks some things from EV, like characters or customization options.

If you have a 3ds and want to know where it started, you can try the "first" one, Burst, which plays more like a 2d beat em up, and then Senran Kagura 2, which is similar to the Versus ones but less "musou-ish", if that makes any sense.

This is a really stupid thing to say. You can't pretend you have a good reason to justify girls ripping each other's clothes off that isn't "because it's visually pleasing" when you have the camera zoom in on every article of clothing explode.
