contrary to what the children who populate this board think, there isn't much actual use that can come from this. It's a collectors item and not much more, no magical secrets are on that disc that reverse engineering can't find

"modding" starcraft never took off because the map editor kept getting new tricks and exploits for people to use, and all the maps made via the editor are playable on battle.net. So people stuck with the editor available so their work could be enjoyed by anyone who signs into brood war multiplayer
