Yanderedev doesn't have an professional programming skills, so he's probably the #1 thing that will prevent the game from coming out. I was talking to my friend about this project recently and he was looking at the code that's been released in the past.

It's lines and lines of "if then" statements, with no higher level programming at all. By my friend's estimate, he figures it would take over a decade to program Yandere Sim like that, and every time you wanted to change something you'd need to go back and tweak every "if then" statement having to do with that thing.

Now look how frequently Yanderedev announces he's adding some new club or killing method, or how often he wants to add a new set piece or new character. Why do you think he hasn't even set up the core AI routines for the students yet? HE FUCKING CAN'T.

Last I heard, Tinybuild is essentially taking over the project, but I'm not clear on when or how or if Alex plans to run his Kickstarter first. Problem with the Kickstarter route is that he keeps saying he'll run it after he finishes Osana and a bunch of other basic AI deals, which he won't because again, he can't.

Also, at some point in any project you're going to do something that leaves a fan unsatisfied, and they'll have a lot to say to you about it. 4chan is fine. You can read what people are saying here but you have to understand the dynamic at work and appreciate things from whatever perspectives are useful. To be fair, Notch really did go nowhere with Minecraft, and eventually even made it less fun by normalizing terrain generation so that exploring for weird land formations was pointless. I feel like governments should give tax breaks to private-sector people who teach X number of years at a university. As it stands now, education is caught in a nasty feedback loop. The education/public sector will never be able to lure talent because the private sector will always pay better, but potentially we can fix that by incentivizing behavior in the long term.

He must have stolen code from people to get this project started considering the speed of the development of initial features and what I thought was bragging about how fast he could code things.
