Is this game a fulfilling single player FPS/Survival experience for $24?

Heard only good things about it but I realize I have no idea how it plays or what the content is like.

Anyone played DL?
>>
>>377076547
It is a more polished Dead Island with parkour.
>>
Great gme. Lots of shit to do. Actual good difficultly settings.
>>
>>377076819
I never really played Dead Island so that doesn't quite answer my question
>>
>>377076547
It's really really good. Shoutouts to the DLC too, it's expansion pack tier.

>I have no idea how it plays or what the content is like.
Parkour and melee combat. Night time is legitimately scary and dangerous.

I'm not sure what you want to know about the gameplay. Weapons break and ammo for guns isn't terribly plentiful. The quests are usually pretty fun and often rewarding because of new weapon blueprints and whatnot.

>>377076819
It makes Dead Island look like dogshit.
>>
>>377076925
is it fun to play alone? i know it's designed for co-op
>>
>>377077007
It's great alone. Seriously. Really atmospheric and intense. It's not ACTUALLY designed for co-op. It's more just one of those games that has co-op too.
>>
>>377076547
It's the only open world game other than BotW where I've honestly just enjoyed wandering around doing nothing. In BotW that was for exploration, but here it's just because moving around is so much fun. They absolutely nailed the parkour stuff, you constantly feel like you have this fast and fun flow moving around the world. Also the combat is really visceral and satisfying, which i didn't expect. Not the best story but the individual quests are fun, and there's plenty to discover in the world. Definitely worth $24. People had mixed feelings about it being scary, but I was scared shitless during the night time, at least for my first playthrough.

>>377077007
Never played co-op, never felt like I was missing anything
>>
>>377077005
>I'm not sure what you want to know about the gameplay

What do the quests play like? What are the objectives typically?

that's like the only thing I'm curious about, are the missions engaging enough?
>>
>>377076547
This is a coop game. Don't play it by yourself. What's even the fucking point?
>>
>>377077005
>It makes Dead Island look like dogshit.
It felt nearly identical in terms of combat and inventory/crafting.
>>
>>377077083
>>377077121
I dunno what the fuck these niggers are talking about but the game is super shallow if you play by yourself. You're not going to be fucking enraptured by the story, you're going to have fun parkouring and doing dumb shit with a buddy who can save you after you fall 11 stories and get downed. Otherwise it's just a slog. Would you play borderlands solo? Or fucking Left 4 Dead without bots/friends?
>>
It kinda reminded me of Far Cry 3 mechanically, but with parkour which I've heard feels like mirrors edge, which I've never played. Let's just say that it surprised the hell out of me because I'm kind of a picky gamer especially with 8th gen crap, and I had a lot of fun with it. I'd say it's definitely worth the buy just to run around and kill shit sense the melee has a great sense of weight.
>>
The main game is really fun and difficult at times. Beware the ending is fucking trash and the dlc is kinda boring imho. I think most people liked it tho.
>>
>>377076547
Playing it solo gives it more of a hopeless "last man standing" vibe if that's what you're looking for, but co-op is fun too. $24 is a good price, I had a lot of fun with it.
>>
>>377077148
>What do the quests play like? What are the objectives typically?
Above average open world stuff.
>that's like the only thing I'm curious about, are the missions engaging enough?
Yes. They are. I promise you that.

>>377077213
Good thing those are actually relatively minor in the grand scale of things. Also the combat is much better as is the itemization/weapon balance.

>>377077335
>You're going to have fun parkouring and doing dumb shit with a buddy
Yet another typical meathead who doesn't understand why people avoid co-op sometimes! The game is less tense or challenging and pretty much 100% of the atmosphere or story will be trampled by the ultimate immersion breaker: other people.

There's nothing fundamentally wrong with wanting to play it that way, but comparing Dying Light singleplayer to Borderlands or L4D is BEYOND stupid.
>>
>>377077335
I had fun parkouring and doing dumb shit without having a buddy save me. There was more than enough to do and see to not feel like i was missing anything playing alone. It's nothing like playing Left 4 Dead alone
>>
>>377076547
Story is hot trash. Gameply is fun though, if a bit repetitive.
>>
>>377077523
If your idea of tense is "lmao this enemy hits for literally my entire lifebar better hide on a street lamp and shoot him with my gun" then sure champ knock yourself out.

Keep making excuses for your complete lack of friends and inability to comprehend why human beings are a social species you fucking autist.
>>
>>377077523
? If a videogame experience is worsened by the addition of friends then you have shitty friends.
>>
>>377076547
>>377076547
welp thanks for feedback anons, think I'm going to pick this up.

One last question, is it easy/possible to join random internet sessions? I don't know anyone who owns this but I still might want to check out the co-op
>>
>>377077523
>>377077148
Looking back on a FAQ and a list of the side mission content, I'm reminded of the quality of the missions. There's a real emphasis on stories and variety. Much less "come here" and "get that" missions and even when they DID boil down to that stuff, there's enough presentation and storytelling that you feel involved anyways.

I think the early quest with the retard was a solid example to go by:
http://dyinglight.wikia.com/wiki/Mother%27s_Day
This is fairly typical of how the side quests are. Main missions are even better.
>>
>>377076926
Open world first person Zombie fighting.
You grab random shit off the floor to beat zombies in the face in while you try to find a way to escape your situation in a open world.
>>377077005
Which is why I said more polished.
>>
>>377077523
The weapon customization was definitely a lot more tame in comparison to Dead Island, made it feel less cool.
>>
>>377077805
You can set your game to public and just get people to fill in who will usually be around your level. There is also an optional like 4v1 asychronous versus mode akin to the dark souls invasion system where one guy gets to be a big special infected that is kind of neat. But it's opt in only.
>>
>>377076547
Surprisingly good game. Disappointing climax of the main campaign, but it's one of the best solo zombie survival horror experiences there is. Movement feels great, combat is tight, day night cycle turns the game from a horde battler into a fast-paced survival race. DLC introduces a huge countryside area with good quests and a fun dune buggy vehicle.

It's good. $24 is a steal.
>>
>>377077743
No. You just have no taste or standards. Unless your friends are autistic RPfags, they're gonna lessen your immersion.

>>377077641
>Make hopelessly stupid comparison of a singleplayer game with co-op feature to two other co-op games with singleplayer support
>Get told exactly how stupid that was
>Throw a fit about nerds and social skills
Just fucking get the fuck off the site thanks.

>>377077918
>a lot more tame in comparison to Dead Island
Which is good, because Dead Islands weapons were retarded. Dying Light sticks to a much more grounded realism which I strongly prefer. Exploding knives is about the dumbest thing ever.
>>
>>377077831
>Which is why I said more polished.
Sure, but I think it's fair to emphasize exactly how MUCH more. Dead Island was a fucking mess. It wouldn't take much to be "more polished" than that stuff.
>>
>>377077743
Not true at all. Tension and atmosphere are important to a lot of games, and those aren't going to feel the same if you're playing with friends. Not every video game should be about goofing around with friends.

Look at System Shock 2 and its co op mode. It's a lot of fun, but all of that tension and horror is basically erased.

Pretty fucking good game, lots to do and fairly challenging, worth playing on hardest difficulty with most of HUD turned off. Only real problem is that the story is kinda lame, they do try in the DLC though. Also avoid the grappling hook
>>
>>377076547
I played on PS4 and really enjoyed it. Got the platinum. Dropkicking zombies off rooftops is so satisfying.
>>
>>377078250
The grappling hook is fine so long as you have a shred of self control and don't exclusively use it. I only use it when I have no immediate climbing options and am in danger.

Are you really pulling the MUH IMMERSION card in a fucking arcadey action game that includes fuckloads of easter eggs to others games, a main character who dry heaves after three swings of a pipe, a healing system based around drinking bandages and eating antiseptic, crating fucking flaming lightning wrenches and exploding throwing stars? Do you really expect to be on the edge of your seat thinking how will this tropey as fuck zombie survival game end? What's going to be the huge twist? Which of these flat as fuck 2D dimensional walking personalities will die in the end? Is it the retard kid who can't do anything right? How about the hot piece of ass love interest who holds a grudge? what about OI BRECKAN CUNT STRAYA?

This game is pure unadulterated fun and you don't need to dim the lights and smudge your face in mud to get the full experience. You're going to throw nailbombs at people and fight frog zambies and peoples elbow everything and dropkick shit like it's dark messiah. Nobody should be playing this game because of it's thought provoking narrative or complicated themes. they're going to be disappointed unless they're a turbo NEET who can use the characters within the game as surrogates for real life relationships to stave off their innate desire to kill themselves.

Everything on paper says it should have been shit, but I'll be damned if I didn't have loads of fun with it.
>>
>>377076547
If you want the zombie parkour experience his is THE game to go for. It's a good time.

I don't like how they handle your power level throughout the game, you seem really really weak at the beginning and incredibly strong at the end. It sounds sensible but I don't like how extreme it is. Besides that it's a very fun game that handles the parkour well, and the dev team really put their heart and soul into it.
>>
>>377078556
Prey is like that. But it is bugged to the extent that I can't finish a few quests due to specific items falling through floors and becoming completely inaccessible.
>>

There's a million miles of difference between playing STALKER while drunk on cheap vodka and wearing a gas mask and playing Dying Light in singleplayer mode.

Sorry I made you feel vaguely insecure about your choices there kiddo. No need to leap to defend yourself. You weren't under attack.

>>377078680
If Dead Island is a passable game and maybe a 6.5-7/10, Dying Light is a 9-10/10 tier masterpiece.

Make sense? I'm speaking relatively of course.
>>

>>
>>377078860
God damn shitty marketing. Prey is essentially a spiritual successor to System Shock 2. It's in a large open map with a central hub. There's a ridiculous amount of stuff to discover, sidequests, and tons of ways to handle different objectives.
>>

Don't worry. Dying Light was a massive success for them. They're gonna double down on it. Hellraid has been in dev hell for a long time though, so it could easily co-exist with Dying Light during development.
>>
>>377076547
Fair warning though. The DLC sort of shits on any kind of story or semblence of it you thought it would have at the end.
Until that point though i actually liked the story.
Despite the game putting you through these very similarish missions, tropes and what not your character dealing with it all borders on not quite 4th wall breaking.
Up to and including you telling one of the bosses how fucking insane and stupid the whole giant fight was and to go fuck himself.

Its like, a normalish guy suddenly having to deal with insane situations and just not understanding how no one else around him is dealing with it.

And then the DLC turns into "super zombie" shit and a Nuke, so...meh. Fuck any character development.

Great fucking gameplay all around though.
Shame you will be playing it so long after launch and when its been patched.
Was a period at game launch when you could do insanely broken shit.
Like jump off a fucking radio antenna to the ground, angling yourself at the last second to hit a zombie with a drop kick and thus negate all fall damage. Or a bug where jumping/falling onto parked cars counted the same as garbage dumpsters(which are the "hay stacks" of this world and its assasin creed style jumps).
>>
Will I get a sort of /k/ommando or STALKER feel with this? Been looking for something to scratch that itch on consoles without Far Cry 4 or GR Wildlands
>>
where is it $24?
>>
>>377078989
>It's in a large open map with a central hub

Is that how System Shock 2 works?
>>
>>377079450
No, though guns are overpowered to the extent that they trivialise any fights with super zombies or humans since they die to one rifle headshot.
>>
>>377079450
A little bit but guns aren't a very good way to conduct business.

IF you're okay with crossbows/throwing knives and melee as your main method of dealing with hostiles though? You're good to go. You can rush the DLC after a few hours of main game and get your crossbow pretty easily. The game is designed more so that you use guns on people and melee on zombies. Until that crossbow of course.

The DLC is more like what you want though. Maingame is a slum and then a busy and cramped city. DLC is a massive countryside with full "innawoods" viability complete with a customizable/upgradeable dune buggy to drive around and even some bosses to find and kill.
>>
>>377079565
http://www.allkeyshop.com/blog/buy-dying-light-cd-key-compare-prices/
>>
>>377079450
No, in fact guns are super dissapointing, except for being powerful.
The game is all built up on customizing the weapons, crafting, etc.
Then it puts you on this quest to find a gunsmith, etc. about a third or halfway through the game.
You think "FUCK YEAH, gun crafting/modding"...Nope. He just gives you a few more generic guns...which you probably already got previously if you cared.
Guns are the weakest part of the game sadly.
>>
>>377079826
the bow is cool though like in all the games it seems to be
>>
>>377079826
There's more to /k/ than gun porn anon. /k/ can appreciate simplistic guns so long as they're applied in interesting ways.

I thoroughly believe that /k/ would approve of and enjoy the Following DLC. It's thoroughly "stalker-esque" in it's own ways.
>>
>>377079969
I would agree, if the main crafting/combat system of the game just didnt make any other weapon that much better.

It truly is all the good parts ripped out of Dead Island and given glorious life. Lets hope any followup at least moves forward and allows for similar gun combos the way you can do all the melee.
>>
>>377080224
The sequel shouldn't have guns at all. They trivialised the game, the only penalty to using them was having to deal with two runner zombies and they die easier than the normal ones.
>>
>>377079450
Guns are just for killing humans, and while they're kinda boring the shootouts are pretty fun because your relying on your mobility to stay alive

You can still get a "Far Cry" feel from this if you just rush to the abilities that allow you to camouflage and execute while camouflaged
>>
>>377080224
>It truly is all the good parts ripped out of Dead Island and given glorious life
But also Dead Island's worst part.
I hate Dead Island's / Dying Light's weapon system.
I don't want to be forced to upgrade that cool looking gladiator sword into a piece of shit with metal scrap and batteries taped to it because it's basically a free +400 damage and it'd be stupid not to do it.
I hate that weapons break after killing a few zombies. It turns actually good weapons into items that you don't want to use until you need it, then you never use it because you never really needed to like health potions in an RPG.
I hate that the good upgrades, like King, are hard to find to the point that you never end up using them for that same reason.
>>
>>377076547
Best modern zombie game no contest, nothing comes close.
Replayed it a while back, originally i was more disappointed by it as i expected much, but playing it away form the hype its a really good game with some smaller flaws like late game gunplay or the mid game pacing.
Its what all those shitty early access games promise you but actually finished in a competent way.

The dlc is a mixed bag. One thing you will hate for sure is the ending.
>>
>>377080761
>I don't want to be forced to upgrade that cool looking gladiator sword into a piece of shit with metal scrap and batteries taped to it because it's basically a free +400 damage and it'd be stupid not to do it.

I thought the bleed upgrades and shock upgrades loked fine. Only the poison and fire were kinda silly.
>I hate that weapons break after killing a few zombies. It turns actually good weapons into items that you don't want to use until you need it, then you never use it because you never really needed to like health potions in an RPG
Unless you just unchain yourself from your autistic limitations and stop being an item hoarder. Just use stuff and play the game without worrying about it. Same goes for games like Breath of the Wild. So long as the disposable weapons are plentiful, you should just go ham.
>>
>>377080761
I don't feel that way, most of the weapons feel naked without the junk attached to it, and by end game you basically had infinite repairs so it's not like you needed to save weapons or upgrades
>>
>>377080639
>"Far Cry" feel
Oh man, the devs ripped off FC3 so hard it was ridiculous. The skill tree, philosophical psychopath villain, first person cutscenes with a voiced protag. It's even worse in the DLC which has straight up Ubisoft sidequest markers all over the bland map.
>>
>>377081168

Not exactly, but I didn't say it's a clone of System Shock 2. Both games have fairly open maps, Prey just opts to have a central hub. The map layout is a bit different, but it sure as hell feels like System Shock 2.

Its pretty solid. Crane seems like an asshole at times, but you really can't blame him. The game gets a 8.8/10 from me, but there are some annoyances that I'll list below. Along with a few notable good things thrown in. Gonna be in 2 or 3 parts.

The game takes some cues from ubishit games at some points, the most obvious is the telephone towers. But this is mostly a non issue, as if I remember correctly, it's only part of one mission, and it really isn't required outside of that. Oh and a really shoehorned druglike hallucination for no real reason.

The parkour feels like a simplified Mirror's Edge, or a first person ass creed. While I'm on the subject of the parkour, cars as a safe landing surface was absolutely retarded

Story was kinda dumb at times, and there are some inconsistencies about how fast people turn, and other minor details. I put about 40 hours into the regular story, and I'm not even 100% completed yet on it, so it has a nice amount of content. Supply Crate dropping stopping was a mistake and the story made sense about it, but I still feel that it was a mistake to take content out like that. There isnt a huge sense of urgency most of the time, unless you're mid-story quest, which i suppose is a good thing since it is a free roam game. Also, they weren't afraid to kill off important characters, and I gotta respect that

Cont.

Another thing. It can be hard to tell what kind of Zombie game it is. It feels between a serious theme, and also a silly theme. Some of the Zombie enemies give a vibe of serious unrealism, like the bigger ones who swing things. Maybe it's me, but it seems a bit odd that a Zombie is using tools. And why did the demolisher get so large? What makes the spitters become like that? If the virus is just a variant of rabies, why does it change their bodies so much? Volatiles and night hunters, virals, and regular zombies are mostly believable.

Quests could be longer, but there is a fair amount of them and most of them have small quest lines with them.

Rais is on par with Vaas levels of "le insanity" meme, except instead of insanity, it's "le decisions". Overall he's pretty shit as a villain. Last boss fight with him was underwhelming.

Crafting and weapons are pretty good though. Although enemy scaling sorta makes it kinda shitty
>Craft 1450 damage sword
>Takes 2-3 body hits to kill a regular zombie
>Occasionally you'll slice them in half on the first hit

I've only just began The Following, so no nitpick about that yet, but I'm sure I could find some.

I know my list here makes it look like the shittiest game ever probably, but it really is good.
>>
>>377078718
I kinda wish they had forced you out during the night more often. That shit was tense as fuck.
>>
>>377076547
The combat and parkour are fun but holy fucking shit the characters and the plot that they force down your throat are the absolute worst.

The game is filled with Ubisoft fetch quests and overall it's very repetitive.

I've had lost my immersion the moment the main villain was introduced you dumb retard, the guy keep sperging uot about MUH CONTROL and MUH CHOICES and the only time I actually thought it was kind of neat when at the last mission of the game when the MC straight up wants to murder him so he could just shut the fuck up. I seriously don't know how can you be immersed when 99% of the missions are fetchquests (with some fun characters mind you) and the story is meediocre at best
>>
>>377088123
Not to mention OP said he's buying it off a keysite lmao
>>
>>377076547
At higher difficulties it feels like me lee weapons are wet sponges so that ruined the early game for me, but the gunplay was awesome.
>>
>>377087898
Dude no. If you don't trust anyone, just pirate it if you think people are shilling in this thread. It's a lot of fun and this is coming from someone who hated dead island.
>>
So the grappling hook was added late in the development cycle right?
Feels so shoehorned in. Tons of fun and I'm glad it's there, but it trivialises so much of the game once you get it. It's never mentioned by other characters like you'd think a major mechanic would and they even stop you from using it during story missions with only a handwaved excuse, communicated through text.
>>
>>377088445
>You are exhausted and cannot use the grappling hook

What a stupid fucking excuse.
>>
>>377087362

Basically all of this if you wanna get down to what it did wrong. Although I have to say some of the silly moments are part of the charm.

I remember going out to the bridge to get the lamps I went during the afternoon and got caught out in the open with the hardcore night creatures.

It felt so good escaping through all the cars and using my flares to make it under the lights.
>>
That mission is built for a night return and really wish they did force more night running.
Shame once you can smear yourself in zombie jizz you can pretty much stay out all night though I only did this to max out combat skill in one night.

Still mad about the "Whoops, got no spare Antizin for Jade, if only the game remembered I actually did have an extra one to spare" bullshit.

I really love this.

It's a shame not many people know about it, because not many of them go into the Tower and then rest in their room.
>>
>>377089810
The safe zones make me wish for a zombie defense survival-sims hybrid where you can just chill during the day, then go out at night to hunt for shit and scavenge.

I just like these small areas where you can feel safe and secure, even if you really aren't. But Goddamn, I loved it anyway. The Tower is one of my favorite player HQs/homes in all the games I've played.

Funfact: Crane is voiced by RE5/RE6 Chris Redfield. His voice sounded familiar to me but I couldn't put my finger on why up until the last few hours of the game. Kinda neat.

Speaking of Antizin

>>
>>377076547
The game offers two very different experiences, depending on if you play it single or with friends.

As a single player game, it's more of a scary game, especially in the first 1/3th of the game, where you really feel like you're out surviving in the world, staying on the run, especially on the hardest dffficulties (on which you should play them) youre beating a single zombie 20 times on the head, so it feels like running is often the more appealing option. You dont have time to beat one zombie down when theres 5 more next to you. You also feel like you're getting better at parkour as you level up.

As a multiplayer it's more of a Dead Island style game where you fight people instead of running, but it's still plenty of fun, and way better than Dead Island.

The DLC is really bad as a single player, since it takes away most of the parkour, which is essential for the survival aspect of the game, but it's even better as a co op than the original game. Unfortunately, since its endgame content, it gives you plenty of guns, and the guns really ruin the game in general.
>>
>>
>>377086824
Wait what? I don't think I ever bothered with their side quests in the DLC
>>
>>377088445
The second city does feel like it's designed around the grappling hook, atleast. It's not like this is a game built around its awesome story
>>
This game is fun in co op but also fucking annoying when there's so much to loot and everyone takes another path, loots a box and then you're basically forced to head back to them and open their box while they open yours. You can never get shit done. I guess we'd need one singular point man, but me and my buddies are too alpha to follow anyone making decisions for us
>>
>tfw can't romance the Mother
>>
So what is the consesus on The Following endings? I mean one of the endings mean that everyone dies including Crane Pain Train and while I think playing as a Volatile who is actually friendly to the survivors in the next game would be neat I don't think that's what will happen
>>
>>377092047
I don't think the nuke everything ending will be the canon outcome, not only because it completely invalidates everything you worked for throughout the game, but also because it makes like zero sense for Crane to just flip like that and kill everyone he's been trying to save the whole game. He worked hard to get that "cure" and he's one stubborn fuck, it just doesn't fit him. And if you want a more cynical answer,
it doesn't leave much open for a sequel.
>>
>>377092047

They're shit.

>I think playing as a Volatile who is actually friendly to the survivors in the next game would be neat

Yeah, that's not possible, because when night falls, you turn into a feral and you kill people, just like how the ending cinematic showed you.
>>
>>377092047
>I think playing as a Volatile who is actually friendly to the survivors in the next game would be neat I don't think that's what will happen
You can already play as a volatile. I feel like that ending was just a tie-in to the Night Hunter Invasion thing.
>>
>>377092275
This is how I felt, too. Neither of the two made any sense. Crane would have most likely killed himself rather than pick between "accept it" and "nuke everything"
>>
This game turned to shit after they patched zombies to become super hard to kill.

>lets patch zombies so that even a shitload of headshots from regular weapon's won't kill them
>this makes the first 10 hours a fucking chore
>from then on you HAVE to get the head stomp that instakill zombies else the game is a huge fucking drag
>hurrrrr great game
>>
>>377091076
Crane really is a beast now that I think about it
>>
>>377092671
I played on nightmare and I literally never had any weapons break because there was no point in ever using them, the judo throw + head stomp combo was just too good.
>>
>>377092869

What?
>>
>>377089574
If only Crane wasn't a fucking retard and hadn't burned that stash at the start of the game.
>>
I didn't like how she just vanished from the game at one point.
>>
>>377093229

He just falls off the map at some point during your missions in Old Town and never appears again
>>
>>377093114
does that QR code go anywhere?
>>
It's like Dead Island without the inevitable point of "every enemy requires 30 shots in the head with a magnum to die".
>>
its fun to solo, the co-op is more for the pvp / doing silly shit.

Play it on hard or higher and you'll have a good intense zombie game.

>>
>key element is navigating the environment and finding the best path
>eventually introduces a magic grappling hook that undoes all of it

Why do games keep doing this?
>>
>>377093567
You don't get that until near the end of the game iirc, and it has a cooldown and doesn't reach super far either. Still, if you want a parkour challenge, you can always do the actual timed challenges where the grappling hook isn't allowed. Or you could just forgo using the grappling hook altogether.
>>
>>377093938

That's like saying "just turn off quest markers" in a Bethesda game, the lategame areas are still largely built around it.

The Long Dark is kinda like that sans zombies.

> walk around all day collecting food
> boil water from snow at night
> pray you live another day

Comfy shit.
>>
The parkour is really nice and fluid. For me it just felt like a Far Cry game minus most of the cancerous ubisoft shit that makes you want to put the controller down. Hell it might even be the best zombie game I've played now that I think about it.
>>
>>377094621
I don't think there's any area that requires the use of the grappling hook. Sounds like you just hate convenience.

How did the Mother stay humanized? How did she not face to bloodshed? I don't remember if they explain that

Good game but the nightmare difficulty setting was a real letdown. clubbing a zed forever breaking all your weapons get really tedious really fast.

It's only during the night they lose control.
It's mentioned when she's introduced

Wish they had done more to balance the nighthunter - shit's fun, but difficulty spikes insanely, to the point of unplayable, depending on opponents.
