I don't see that as a reflection of the entire fanbase. It was members of the fanbase who created the M3 fan translation in the first place.

There's people out there who are plenty excited about Mother 4, there just seems to be an unfortunate amount of people who only wanted "Mother 4". It would have helped a lot if the devs had shown more when they announced the name change, I'm sure that would have tamed people's fears.

At the risk of sounding like a shill, I'd pay for Mother 4. They've put a lot of work in, they ought to be compensated somehow.

It's definitely dangerous tho, considering the concerns people have raised that this was a bait-and-switch to ride off the Mother franchise's hype train. I don't believe that's the case at all, but they'll have a hard time explaining that away if they did charge for it.

Here's a translation for an official mother 2 manga. It tells the story of the game VERY loosely but it has a lot of charm. Artist is Benimaru Itoh, did the star fox and metroid nintendo power comics and was the lead artist on mother 3 when it was still on the n64.

Miyazaki and Itoi were actually very good friends. Itoi wrote the tagline fpr most ghibli films during the 80's to early 2000's. Itoi also plays the father in the original Japanses version of My Neighbor Totoro.
