Sprint is overall pretty irrelevant to dungeon clearing speed. DRK off-gcds simplify to "if a button is lit up, push it" because DRK has no buffs it needs to line things up with. DRK is a horribly designed tank that relies on the rest of the group for aggro, and has way too many skills that are just there purely for DPS even though it's a tank job.

The HW ending did absolutely nothing to hype SB. It just felt like the same end-patch deal we've been getting. You could read into that like, they weren't really investing in HW anymore and were just trying to bridge content, but if your story is so weak you're just trying to create some sort of reason for the story to go a certain way...it means you have a weak story.

Both Ala Mhigo AND Doma are being butt-raped by the Garleans.
You don't even need to play SB to know that the story is going to be about attacking the Empire from both fronts, liberating Ala Mhigo and establishing a foothold in Doma sound that you have a meat wall of MNK, SAM, and NIN to through at the Empire along with the combined city states.

If we didn't go to Doma this expansion, we would have just gone to Doma after.
Knocking both out of the way now ends up working out better, since they won't need to stretch out either country too thinly, and we won't need to deal with nothing but Ala Mhigger mountains for two years.

Arrow can be seen as a mini-balance for some classes. BLM for example are the one who benefits the most out of it. If you are in a 4-man party with a BLM and a NIN and you pull a balance and an arrow you give the arrow to the BLM and the balance to the NIN. Regardless of what kind of damage they do.

The point is to not give it to NINs, MNKs, low TP DRGs (or DRGs at all sometimes), MCHs and tanks. Expanded is fine if someone benefits from it.

Here's my idea
Each 12 hours "Danger zone" appear and lasts for 6 hours. It's like FATE but it covers the whole location. Every one can attack anyone. What's the point you say? Inside those Danger zones spawns nodes and rare monsters.
Nodes have super rare materials and fish. Only one person can gather items from the node at time and those nodes have respawn cooldown of 5 mins.
Rare monsters are strong but also give good xp, gill and have higher chance to drop HQ materials.

This way jews can no longer jew alone, they'll need bodyguards to gather endgame craft materials in peace. People will fight over the rare shit like there is no tomorrow.

I don't think you understand the big picture here, you're talking about how you can keep up Mana with this and that skill, but that's just it, you use Blood Price to regen MP, which means DRK got a skill slot on an ability that does that and only that, meanwhile we get Maim as part of our rotation, and our new HW skills weren't used up on maintaining Maim, because we always have it as a matter of course.

And you don't even out dps a WAR with perfect Mana management, DRK's biggest flaw for me is how they have a certain skill ceiling and they're not even the strongest dps Tank as a result, call Maim retarded if you want but it's objectively a better buf fthan Darkside and it's not even a fucking stance.

I had a friend going through the same pain as me, though he wasn't quite as unlucky. There were people in a few LS chats who were out there for even longer so I could have had it worse too.

Mostly, if I decide to start something, I will see it all the way through even if it's not fun in the slightest. I only ever did one relic because of that step. For 3.x I did two, since only the sands/stone step was painful but it was tedious rather than helplessly frustrating.

Honestly I loved the book step. I wouldn't mind it returning for the next relic quest line. But so many people got so buttmad over Atma. Even the official forums were home to threads bitching about the step.

RNG is okay, but you have to soften the blow when someone doesn't get lucky and your drop rates are abysmal to begin with. Something like +x% chance to get a drop for every y attempts without getting a one is better. Thankfully SE learned their lesson and now we have boring "do runs of the same content 12320438928 times" for every step instead.

At least bring the books back, guys. If you want me to do old content, spice it up a little with what you tell me I need to do.

Ul'dah is a fine starting area. If you aren't on Balmung. If anything it's the most new user friendly along with Gridania since there's nothing complicated about the city state. Pugilist guild is literally right by the save crystal (aetheryte).
