I just finished AAI2, holy shit that was such an amazing game.

(Spoilers for those who haven't played it)

The character development of Sebastian & Courtney were top tier, that scene in the courtroom where Sebastian stands up to his dad and gets a new sprite was one of the best moments of the whole series IMO. And that final case, I never expected that little Simon faggot to be the mastermind. 10/10 theme, 10/10 final case

Oh man, I took /v/'s suggestion recently and started to play the Ace Attorney Trilogy and what a ride it's been. The game play and it's linearity leaves a bit to be desired but the music and story (despite some silly things like the cloak in game 2) got me hooked.

Just started Trials and Tribulations today, gonna leave now before spoilers, excited about the praise I've heard for it

1-4 is the only great case in the game
1-5 is good but there are issues with the canon (edgeworth being there for example) and also drags on

Besides, I'd still recommend people just play the DS version, no reason not to really. It was clearly made as a DS game so any port to a single-screen device is going to lose some basic functionality. Not to mention the redone sprites aren't going to look exactly the same as the original, so it gets into the entire creative vision argument.

Get the fuck out. 1-2 is a great case outside of the literal last 5 minutes of the last trial. April May + Busboy are great, White is a legitimately intimidating villain and everything to do with Grossberg's painting is great. It's also literally the only case where Edgeworth is actually the ruthless asshole he's credited as being all through the first game.

I'm gonna be honest with you guys.
The original trilogy is overrated.
You can maybe make a case for the first game because the worst it had was Mia saving your ass in literally every case, but 2 and 3 were mediocre compared to other games. Where Apollo Justice's only real flaws were Nick hogging the spotlight, the MASON System being a crock of shit, and the entirety of the third case, 2 and 3 were huge messes.

In 2 you had:
>Mia STILL saving your sorry ass
>Maya getting accused again
>in order to force a shitty angle with a vindictive aunt
>that continues into the next game
>A terrible tutorial case
>The literal worst case in the entirety of the series
>Followed by an entirely overrated final case which is only praised for "characterization" which is flimsy

3 has:
>Diego Armando suddenly becoming an integral part of Mia's history despite never being mentioned before
>a really weak second case
>a bad third case
>a fourth case that tries to be significant but fails, really only establishing "Dahlia is a bitch" as if we didn't already know from the first case
>a terrible final case with...well basically it's just terrible, really no other way to put it
Even the cases in Dual Destinies were lukewarm at worst. The trilogy is just filled with some of the worst cases of the series, besides AAI.
