Actually I think it has something to do with how closely the Xbone and Windows 10 architecture are which is why the two platforms can mingle with each other so easily, and that porting it over to 7/8 would take a greater deal of work compared to that. Ok so this game was made by the creator of Panzer Dragoon, its unlike anything youve ever played.

The basic premise is that is a 3rd person fighter, but with cards. you build a deck and your powers spawn on the map. you grab them and they go to one of the face buttons.

Powers come from 5 schools:

Uses your Will, high cost attacks that take health away from you sometimes

This also gets broken out into Skill types like Attack, Defense, Status, Special and environmental.

You will collect and use these skills in your deck and attempt to create the most effective deck, you will not be able to see your opponents deck so choose wisely.

Combat takes place in multi-tiered levels some destructible areas that you can use to change the flow of the match. Like if a guy is hanging out on a bridge and just firing down at you and you cant get a clear shot, destroy the bridge and remove it from play.

Let me waltz into this thread and say that I fucking loved Phantom Dust, but it's boring as hell to replay.

Basically over half of the game is a tutorial of them slowly introducing you to mechanics. This is dandy the first time you play, but it's grating when you want to start the game anew.

I've never played Phantom Dust over Xbox Live, but I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if the prevalent strategy is to just delete enemy spheres, grinding them out so they can't do anything and that would be the scummiest bullshit to have to play against on a regular basis.

tl;dr: I want a Phantom Dust 2 where it assumes you've played the first one and just lets you start being an Arsenal (deck) however you want from the get go.

Phantom Dust is one of my favorite games. I don't own a Xbone, and I don't have Windows 10, but I hope everyone that does takes time to try it out.

They cracked open and rewrote the renderer, fixed the culling (making the screen display 16x9 is only the first part of the issue), added LIVE support, enabled easy balance tuning, got cross-play working, re-enabled hundreds of custom shaders and VFX (DX8 to DX11 is not a fun conversion, I've learned), made UI changes, and got the framerate to a massively stable 30 FPS on any machine / platform, all while not being able to truly modify the game at its core. It depends on the game. Sometimes you get genuine crap without microtransactions.

On consoles this is usually because you bought a subscription to a network (xbox live or PSN). On very rare occasion a game can go full on freeware, but that's usually on PC/Linux not consoles.

This might actually be the later because the game is old and Microsoft has had a lot of trouble getting exclusives. Buying the rights to make a popular game into a freebie for the system wouldn't be a stretch at this point.
