Bullshit. Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD were improved thanks to the second screen (gamepad) being able to be used as as a map/inventory screen. After playing OoT 3D, MM3D, WWHD and TPHD I can't go back to not having a second screen for items/map to make the game more seamless. I hated that they took out the second screen for Wii U's version of BotW. They gimped it on purpose because otherwise it would've been superior to the Switch version because of the second screen.

Outselling the Wii U doesn't make something a success

As a reminder, the Wii U and 3DS are Nintendo's worst selling console and handheld, respectively. And even still, they each represent separate markets. The Switch, being a hybrid device that combines Nintendo's handhelds and consoles, represents 2 markets. They will have to sell 78 million units just to beat 3DS+Wii U combined sales, and we're still talking Nintendo's worst. The Switch has to sell 78 million units not to be the worst thing they've ever shit out.

By comparison, the PSP and PS3 have both shipped a measly 80 million units in their lifetime, the PSP being the worst selling handheld of its generation and the PS3 being the worst selling console of its generation.

So you say Switch sold 2.7 million units in a month. Big fucking deal. It also launched with games people actually want when most consoles launch with garbage libraries. Demand will die down and it will go on to become Nintendo's worst console/handheld easily, without question

It isn't new. Vulkan is an API, much like Direct X. It is a way for developers to interact with the system in a more streamlined way. It's the first mainstream-adopted API since DX9 (11 is current) that can bring massive improvements to rendering visuals, and therefore improving gameplay in games. If for nothing else because it takes load off of GPU.

And I used to be a DXfag and hate anything OpenGL, which is the predecessor to Vulkan.

Is it PS4 or XBone powerful? Close, but no. That doesn't mean its hardware should be cast aside. It is a powerful system for what it's trying to do. And, unlike the Wii (which was even less of an "upgrade" from the GC yet sold way better), the current tech trends don't make it obsolete.

4K adoption rate has been low. HDR is cool, but also novel and not well received. What else do the new "mainstream" consoles have to offer us besides those two things? Granted I have a capable gaming rig, so I guess maybe that's a factor for me. But all said, even though Nintendo is doing something different... I think they actually got it right this time, unlike the Wii U.

Monhun and SMT regardless of wether they're exclusive or not will sell well. If the paper Mario TTYD remake actually happens then that's just more sales. I am setsuna was a low effort port and konami sucks dicks and probably didn't even know what vulkan was. Its still a pretty new thing, there aren't many PC games to utilize it yet.

If you look at the raw hardware specs of the switch, they aren't very high. The PS3 had a 25% hugher theoretical performance limit than the stuff thats in the switch, so any switch game that currently looks as good as it does on the wii u absolutely must be utilizing vulkan to overcome that huge gap between the raw performance numbers of the PS3 and Wii U.

if the market were static, the Switch might work in the long run and could have gotten newer games, but it isn't. Nintendo took advantage of being the first to the market with a standardized Vulkan-ready console to deliver a technically less impressive hardware unit than the PS3, but thanks to vulkan can perform with the Wii U. The next xbox and playstation will support Vulkan too though, on top of 5x better hardware, which combined is basically 10-15x better than the xboneS and PS4pro, 30+x better than the Switch/Wii U. The Switch can't even get the xbone and ps4 games as is, nevermind the pro, and will be so far left in the dust with the next xbox and playstation that it will literally die without a $150 minimum price cut.
