I'm slowly starting to like HotS
I'm watching videos and reading guide, thinking about what hero to play, convincing my friends to play with me for the fucking bonus, and then I log in, and after a few games I remember why I hated this fucking genre.

The balance is retarded as fuck, you're matched with people that ignore the objectives completely, that try to 1v2 like they're some prodigy, if you ever complain people just disconect or start blaming you for any slight mistake you could possibly make, maps where you can't push like towers of doom make some heroes much less effective, tanks snowball so hard it's impossible to contest an objective when the enemy has more tanks than you. Buying shit is so expensive, loot boxes helped a lot, but it still pretty bullshit how expensive everything is. Overwatch farmers just throw game left and right to complete their quest asap.

And then I feel like I no longer want to play anymore...

I've been getting back into HotS and played solo for a bit, I win most of these games and get usually okay teams.

However when I play with my friend, who also hasn't played in a long while, we get paired with utter trash teams and lose almost consistently.

I don't think its that bad. I have like, 75% of the characters just for leveling to what is now like level 225 or something. I mean, thats quite a bit of playing, like 800 games or something, but still. I have enough gold to buy any 2 heroes I would want just sitting there and it only takes a week or 2 to get enough gold from quests to buy any hero to boot.

It was more annoying before to be sure, but now its much, much easier. And being able to earn any skin in game without spending real money is very welcome.

For a while, DOTA was on version 6.xx. It has now ticked over to 7.XX which had some huge changes.

Rubber banding basically means that if you are ahead and you die, you give more gold/XP to the enemy team. Problem with everyone complaining is that the comeback gold/xp has been nerfed a lot and the only way it can make a difference is if you were stomping and you stuffed up.

Ahh, just good old carry cuck whine. Get over it, 1vs9 and 4 protect 1 was shit and with the rise of competitive dota it got more and more stale to the point of being deleted. Early ruberband was horrible, but do you remember TI4? Or do you want a snoozefest of fucking around either am or void on enemy team get 6 slotted first and wins the game in one push? Look at LoL where games are decided in first 15 minutes because once ahead you can't lose, a game with a concede button. You may argue that rubber band should be tonned down a bit more and I won't argue but it takes you to trow 2-3 teamfights for enemy team to comeback and trowing a TF in late game was always a game losing move. I fucking hated old dota void, boring piece of shit that you would boop creeps for 40 minutes disregarding anything else happening in game, ricing for 80% of the game to do one chrono with 6 slots and parade down the mid because highground was a fucking joke back then.

It's fucking 4 OW characters. Keep in mind that Diablo has over 10, even using literal who characters like Auriel. At least Azmodan was an act boss, the Butcher and Leoric have the series legacy, and Tyrael was an important character in D2.
