Walking, dialogue, surfing, loading screens, battle animations, even the amount of time it takes for you to press a button, any button, and have it reflected on screen, it's all slow, slower than an old man easing into a hot bath.

The visuals were barely a step up from RS, aside from the use of 3D objects on the overworld the visuals were very underwhelming. BW are what DP should have been in many ways, real sequels with nothing but new Pokemon and visuals we should have had in the first place, not the same static 2D battle scene with slightly higher-resolution sprites and effects.

DPs only saving grace was the Poketch, we wouldn't have a comparable set of bottom-screen features until ORAS.

Gen IV was Garchomp Sweeps Your Team: The Meta until they banned him. You simply needed to have a direct counter to Garchomp on your team, or he'd sweep you. No exceptions. Give it one turn to either SD or set up a sub, and he sweeps you if you do not have a direct counter. This was massively centralizing, more so than anything that came after.

Weather wars at the very least offered some variety in how you got fucked, if your opponent is using sand you can still try to carryout your own wincon with rain or stop theirs without neededing a direct counter to a single Pokemon. Megas are shit too but again the hyper-offense isn't centralized around one fucking Pokemon.

If you just use rare candies to level your guys up, you're a fucking moron, you still need to grind until you have max DVs.

Only having a single EQ, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam or Body Slam TM means your mons are missing important moves they need.

The glitch also allowed you to catch Safari Zone Pokemon with any ball you want and without risk of them running away, making it a lot less time-consuming to catch one with good IVs.
