Grinding for 5 hours and having stupid magatama shit to counter his wind crap is /v/'s idea of an amazing boss.

>>377036475
it's amazing how can he filter newfags
>>377036367
You have to play SMT games like some faggot wizard transported you back to 1995 and the only way to finish RPGs is to grind til your numbers are bigger and snag some wind resist.
>>377037442
What exactly am I looking at here?
Also BUFFS
He's not even hard.
Is it a decent move to waste one demon debuffing a fiend/buffing the party that uses dekunda or the other removal so that he wastes one turn? Been doing that for every boss that has some removal for my party or themself
>>377036367
>buff hit/evasion rate
>debuff hit/evasion rate
>keep doing it even if boss dispels debuffs
>eventually win
>>377038085
Yes, some bosses require that, even.
>>377036367
wait until you meet mot/beelzebub/metatron/noah lucifer etc matador is nothing
>beat him on second try with an int build
how fucking retarded do you have to be to get stuck on him?
you see what type of attack he uses fuse a monster which resists it get a few buffs and debuffs and that's it.
are there people really that retarded they refuse to adapt and just try to brute force him again and again?
>Want to get into Nocturne
>Have to deal with randomization of skills where you have to cancel and try fusing again to get the best skill
Just fucking give us Nocturne just with some of the benefits of the newer games!
>>377038412

>>377036367
>start playing on hard
>gets my ass decimated by this nigga, gotta sell a bead chain to get just enough money to buy the wind magatama and grind 4 levels to fuse Ame-no-Uzume and Momunofu
>eventually beat Dante but after Matador the entire game is a chore
>restart on normal
>just breeze through it
Literally what is the issue? If you're playing on normal he's not even a problem
>>377038405
b-b-but you have t-t-to grind or else he's unbeatable!
>>377038412
>Can't even see what my skills do from the stats menu, have to go back and go to a separate skills menu
>Resistances and weaknesses are written in plain text somewhere rather than organized in a table
>"Pass" is a part of your attack list, begging to be pressed by accident
>God help you if you want to check enemy stats
Yeah, UI could definitely be brought up to date.
>>377038405
Think the issue is a lot of people went into SMT thinking it was just Pokemon but with demons. And so never really cared to deal with fusing. So for the most part people just tried to beat him with what you would have meet along the way. And Matador is the perfect road block where understanding basic fusing and looking at Magatama is kind of key. He's not hard just if you don't really think everything through you will find yourself getting your ass handed to you.
>>377038383
Noah isn't hard, he's just shit. Metatron isn't too tough either, considering by the time you get to him, you've already gone through Beelzebub who is much tougher.
>>377038895
>Noah isn't hard
not if you're a clueless pal like op
>>377037442

I would really love a Nocturne remake with Persona 5 convenience, but I'm afraid that it would also include Persona 5 easiness.
>>377036367
>the one nobody played
>>377038640
>grind
This is the issue.
I was level 11 when I first fought Matador and you need to be level 19 to get Uzume.
The game would be better without levels affecting fusions.
>>377036367
man you really must suck at games
no joking you should be ashamed of yourselfuse buffs retard
>>377039189
Does having control over skills that carry over in fusing make it really easy? Since that's really my one big issue. Remember spending nearly 10 minutes wanting to transfer a few skills but in the end just quit and just picked 2 that was good enough and 1 that was complete shit.
>>377038774
Free Analyze I guess would make it a bit easy but more likely than not you will just look up online what it is so might as well just do what Persona 5 does.
>>377039361
My point is that he and every subsequent boss are a pain in the ass on hard and barely a challenge on normal. Playing on normal I got to him on level 15, which is enough to fuse Nozuchi, but he isn't even needed if you have the wind magatama.
>>377039361
In Nocturne you can fuse a level 33 Baphomet with low level demons before even reaching the underpass of Ginza. So yes, restricting fusions to the MC's level is one of the most important aspects of the balance in SMT.
>>377039557
>Does having control over skills that carry over in fusing make it really easy?
Yes, you become way too versatile way too quickly. There has to some sort of happy medium though.
>>377037442
Matador isn't the casual filter, Thor's gauntlet is.
>>377040425
its Devil May Crit though
>>377040596
Isn't he after Thor though and besides recruit a Momunofu or whatever they're called makes Dante a push over whereas with Thor you'll like still be reliant on Uzume for a lot of things and she's weak to Zio which Thor will happily exploit on top of going into that battle after two other battles.
Ikebekuro in general is a casual filter I guess: Thor, Dante, Daisoujou.
>>377036367
>Persona 5 babies
>>377040795
Even though momo is res to phys Dante can still crit on him and thus get an extra turn to one shot your uzume
>>377039557
>Does having control over skills that carry over in fusing make it really easy?
Not necessarily, but considering that Nocturne has acquired a reputation for being some notably hard game, (whether it actually deserves that or not is another discussion) I'll bet that things would be changed or added in a remake to make the game easier.
>>377041928
>a reputation for being some notably hard game
Notably hard JRPG to be specific of which it definitely is.
>keep lowering his agility
>still miss 4 times in a row
>RED CAPOTE
>>377038895
All Beelzebub requires is null death on everything and magma axis on demi. Megatron requires null expel, fast buffing and debuffing and you to clench your asshole every time he fires off fire of sinai.
>>377042315
Get a Nozuchi and fuse an Uzume, Matador now becomes a medium difficulty boss.
>>377040425
I can see some demons can't acquire certain skills being a part of a new system to keep a bit of challenge so you don't quickly have an insane group like in Persona.
>Playing Persona 4 Golden
>Got the upgrade card a few times in one of the level
>Quickly became way over powered against everything
Shit gets broken fast.
>>377041928
Guess the issue is when the west finally got it no one really knew anything about SMT. So to everyone they didn't really have a good understanding on fusing and other things. So going blind in a game like Nocturne without any real knowledge on how any of the system works (just look at the fucking spell names) and yeah it's pretty damn hard.
>>377036367
>RNG: the boss
>/v/ will defend this
>>377042221
So I passed through the Oni-cave without seeing a single Oni, what's up with that? Should I go back and kick their asses before bitchslapping the Moirae sisters?
>>377042475
>Doesn't know what Fog Breath is
>Doesn't know you can buy a Null Force Magatame right before the boss
>Nu-/v/ is too casual for Nocturne
>>377039557
P5 is easy because of baton pass and technical attacks. Fusion has nothing to do with it.
>>377042547
>So I passed through the Oni-cave without seeing a single Oni, what's up with that?
Technically all four Onis are optional but you get a Magatama from them so you head back and do them.
Surprised you didn't come across at least one of them though.
>>377042315
You can buff your party as much as you want he doesn't have dekaja. He will cast red capote if you lower his agility to +1 and will cast dekunda if you lower his offense and defense to -3. So just a rule of thumb: only cast two of each rebuff on him.
I want to say it was get an Inugami or Makami with Fog Breath to win in my case.
>>377042475

>>377042468

Skill inheritance is already in Nocturne and P3/4/5.

Matador in Shin Megami Tensei 3 is a Buff and Debuff tutorial.
If you cannot grasp that concept, please uninstall the game from your PC, PS3, or eject the disc out of your PS2.
Perhaps something like Final Fantasy would be more fitting with their Auto-Attack commands for your liking OP. Matador isn't even the worst thing in the game, there's practically dungeons designed by sadists to crush your willpower.
>>377047393
The dungeons in Nocturne weren't so bad. The Sun in DDS2 and Grus in SJ are hellish. I don't think Eridanus is as bad as people make it out to be though. Puzzle Boy is more difficult than anything in any SMT though, so Nocturne has that.
Fog breath

>Uninstall Nocturne from PC
>>377037514
Funny enough I slapped his shit the first time I played and only had played Persona somewhat
My second playthrough after playing more SMT he kicked my shit in like four times
Reminder that all the fiends weren't in the original version of the game and were added later, and that the entire true demon ending wasn't a thing.
The boss is a huge difficulty spike solely because the game wasn't designed with him in mind, and /v/ will defend it
>>377047926
>>377045664
I went the other way and found the guard that tells you the enemy weaknesses if you pay him off. So the gauntlet was a breeze. And Thor's obviously going to throw out those zio attacks so I made him lose a lot of turns with an electric nullifying demon (I forget which).
It's Dante who appears after you get out that fucked me up.
The best part about Thor is that you encounter him again hours and hours and hours later near the end of the game. Except I think he has the exact same strength so you pummel him at level 60~ and he's alone.
>>377047926
I really wish you could just beat the shit out of that kid and skip puzzle boy.
>>377047926The last page of the official strategy guide for puzzle boy was wrong.

I guess I just got lucky because he only used that move a few times in the entire fight plus the fact that I had unicorn which voids it.
