The battle is much more fast paced but the process of learning the system over time is similar. The paradigm shifts a lot more often in automata while Geralt plays the same the whole way through.
Also you have a tolerance for going through side-quest shenanigans for plot development so that's a big plus.
I'd say the big dealbreaker is the aesthetic of nier compared to the medievil one of witcher is a huge difference but if you can make that leap you'll probably be in for the full ride that automata offers.

Hundreds of H-games, VNs, movies, anime, games, uni material and 50 thousand porn pics mostly well organized in hundreds of folders, sorted by tags and subcategorized by 2d, 3d and GIFs/Webms.

The last game I played, and still am playing, is Xenoblade Chronicles X at almost 300h. Currently beating all tyrants solo on foot.
Losing all that work would physically hurt, but wouldn't come close to the void of losing everything else I had in my life.
