Literally every console Sims from Gen 6 is good. Make sure to check out the handhelds as well. Bustin' Out GBA and Urbz GBA/DS are fantastic and worth checking out first in my opinion; Sims 2 DS is weird as fuck but worth looking at. The Sims 2 GBA is more similar to the Urbz/Bustin' Out, but I haven't tried it yet. The PSP ones are weird too, but still fun.

Sims 2 in general was very strange. Almost every game had aliens or ghosts or zombies, and losing your sanity was a core mechanic.

Less expansions, delete cache every time before booting. i think there is a clean up mod that lets you do more tweaks for performance (No randomly generated townies, which is great if you wanna have your own inbred community, and the max amount of pets so you can have em without having em be EVERYWHERE)

The "easy" solution is to have it installed to a fast SSD though, the issue is in the core game itself though since it has a memory leak that basically increases exponentially for every add-on, so "complete" runs like fucking shit and god fucking help you if you have the premium neighborhoods and a complete store pack. Nightmare mode is all that and Kinky World

So the actual solution is not installing something if you ain't gonna use it, even if it is easy to slide into "WORLD ADVENTURES HAS THAT WALLPAPER I WANT" pit.

I think as a life-sim, (modded) Sims 3 is the best one, because it's the only one that really simulates an entire small town at once, with every NPC aging accordingly and going on with their lives and walking around instead of just teleporting between lots

Sims 1 was the best one in terms of design and humor though, the low poly Sims had a strangely serious look to them as opposed to the more comical faces of the sequels, which made everything so much more weird, I really miss that old Sims design

The Sims 3 would be fucking amazing if wasn't coded by literal apes.

It either runs at shit framerates that makes it look like a slideshow or for some fucking reason, the game renders 2000+ plus FPS yet still only displays 30 FPS, essentially destroying your graphics card if you don't download a frame limiter. It's some weird techinical shit but it blows my mind how a game like this can be so broken.

I happen to be an expert on this topic.
It adds post-sex moodlets, a sex skill, an exhibitionism skill, and settings such as pregnancy chance, yes or no to incest, yes or no to age difference, always accept, jealousy impact, and relationship impact. Probably other I don't remember. But as he said, you need to download the animations separately. Many of them are pretty good.

I'm still surprised the console Sims games were actually good.
I fucking loved how console Sims 2 had a toggle between regular Sims controls and direct control.
Urbz/Bustin Out were also far better than they had any right to be. I still go back to them every now and then.
